I'm sure you are right for people who don't do their own maintenance, I don't believe it would be necessarily true if one were to do one's own maintenance. The B48 engine is a well-known unit and can be maintained with the help of aftermarket software like BimmerCode.

Although the rest of the car is also more complex than a trad and this would result in high labour costs if having work done at a dealer, if doing stuff at home it would really just mean maintenance tasks would take longer. I'd happily take one on, but then I have a good range of tools, a big garage, and a lift. I wouldn't be so keen if I didn't have those.

Tim, you've found a great situation for yourself. But that's totally atypical. What percentage of CX customers will service their Morgan themselves? 2 or 3 percent? I don't believe in more than that.

And WHERE will the other 97% go ? How long will a typical "service journey" take; watch/wait while the work is done, or a B&B overnight, a courtesy car, or a train journey twice ?

We are doomed, doomed.

The problem is, CX owners have been lead to believe that the car they've bought is a 'real car'......😆
It's a toy.
The price is not a guarantee of quality of design or construction.
'Features' that may be acceptable in a trad valued at £30k are totally unacceptable in a car costing £100k.
The sort of buyer that MMC hope to attract to the brand with the new models are very unlikely to put up with leaky draughty £100k sports cars, with a boot that is almost completely full when the sidescreens are stored leaving little room for luggage.

MMC need to radically rethink the direction they're going in if they want to survive.....................🤷🏻‍♂️

I agree Julian playing with the big boys implies a raised game and is high risk if they screw up the USA but change was ever thus.

We need to support them. If you were a new buyer and read this constant moan from non cx owners mainly you would be put off a fundamentally good sports car

Tim is on the money for me, you either love Morgan long term or you don't (only 20 years ownership for me so a new boy) - it's that simple and as in all things in life if you want it bad enough you manage it and it works for you.

The CX series are incredible cars and rejoice in it whilst we are still fortunate enough to have them around at ridiculously low prices on the pre owned market.

John is the proof that this is a very good move for those really using their cars for long distance touring, 9k I think he put down this first year of ownership with a puncture to show only

If you need to rely on a garage turn the trip into an adventure, not an endurance test

p.s. I had a searing reminder of just how quick and exceptionally well handling the S2 Aero is at 20 years old yesterday morning when I met up with a new Dartmouth resident who took me for a brief run out in his for milk - blindingly quick and vey settled we came back with butter..

The CX owner in Malvern that dailied his was fair comment but I think we all know that it was never intended for that level of usage imho..

p.s. As said earlier when the left knee finally goes it's the CX Auto for me, no question.

The auto box is a peach although a slight hint of a gradient it will drop a gear, but that could be why you get such good MPG.

I've driven the CX plus four and I really liked it.
It is very good........for a Morgan.......... but I don't think that is good enough in the modern market.

If you're a trad owner moving in to a CX it's a revelation, arguably 'better' in most respects, but if you're new to Morgan..........🤷🏻‍♂️ you're possibly going to be a bit disappointed.....

The very fact that used prices have plummeted so much they're looking like a good option as a used car isn't really a positive for the brand or the model...... is it.....??????
