I am opening this one up again in the hope there is more information. I also have a 1986 +4 with the Fiat 1,995cc Lampredi engine, and would like to have a wiring diagram. Having looked a lot, I cannot find anything appropriate.
Also, does anyone know where I can find a manual on the engine and gearbox? I have asked the MMC and await a reply. Fiat owners advise that the Fiat 132 has the closest engine, but they also say do not use a Haynes manual as they have misleading information.
Hi Neil,
A kind Morgan soul sent me to read this thread..in hope I could help you. I only come by here now to trace the advice a car that I have been consulted on. You must have one of the few (122) Fiat Plus 4s produced in the late 1980s. Generally thought of as a fine Morgan variant! 12 were carburetted cars and the rest were fueled by LE-Jetronics Bosch (second MMC EFI models after the optional EFI Plus 8s. However, as so often happened, there were not enough of your variant produced to amass much know-how. In fact. the Factory saved money at the time by office copying an even more sparse Manual than they did normally. The MMC certainly can't help you now, 27 years later! They couldn't help much in 1986. (wry smile)
GoMoG does have the Manual printed for your car. Here it is (clickable).
It was sent to GoMoG many years ago due to kind courtesy of a Gunnar Svartholm of Sweden. Many moggers responded a request for Manuals years ago and that index it is one of GoMoG's most popular pages. For the community's sake, I wish people would send more! The missing ones pre-1990...https://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/Hints&HandbooksIndex.html
Unlike most MMC Manuals (and those those printed between 1990ish to 1998) your Manual does NOT contain any electrical diagrams. Anyway, Morgan does not print fuelling system diagrams if that is what you are looking for (???). There are four looms in your car and at best we only get the Morgan wiring sections. I ask this because the lack of wiring diagrams becomes grave (pre-1998) when the items in question
are not British. British automobile wire colour coding is brilliant, best in the world. You can find what you need from them, diagrams or not. However, I remember Italy (Fiat) used a more rudimentary and different wire coding system and in 1986. And GoMoG only rarely post fueling system diagrams and then only for the most popular EFIs which I source them outside the Morgan world. Lastly, both L-Jetronics or LE-Jetronics do have very hard to find and super expensive diagnostic code readers..though you can diagnose the entire system with a cheap multi-meter if you have know how.
But all this is moot. A simple statement of what is wrong with your Morgan would elicit more help for you. If you want mine, contact me at GoMoG. Otherwise I am sure someone else here can help.assist.
