We had Haddock and chips at an Irish pub in Las Vegas a couple of weeks ago, apprx. 22 pounds each serve, two large pieces of fish each, fairly average. The Guinness was fine.

Cannot send photo but today in Sunday Times Travel it names 5 UK top fish and chips. And yes Whelands Fish Restaurant in Lytham St Annes is one of them.. Eat in, in a lovely dining room or sitting on Lytham Green overlooking the Ribble (again) estuary . Perhaps sit in the new Plus Four with the hood down eating them , when the car arrives !? The leather will enjoy the oil and vinegar finger marks.

Marlboro Restaurant Weymouth …….personally I like the Crab House Cafe or Catch if going more ‘ upmarket’.

I'm sure these Sunday Times "best of" are "paid for to appear in the list". Can't recall the names, must be four or five years since we were there, but there are some wonderful F&C establishments in and around Whitby and Scarborough.

Time to go back there, methinks

Had them in Wetherspoons a few times with the usual “how do they do it for the money” comment, and they have been alright, but a visit to Stratford on Avon spoons last week looked like they had deep fried a mouse.

With a slight subject swerve, I had no idea that frozen fried eggs were a thing, until one day I did an audit to a large company which specialised in egg powder, but also huge numbers of fried eggs, which are fried in the factory, frozen, and supplied in boxes of xxx, to fast food cheap end catering.

It's obvious that if you pay peanuts you'll get rubbish, but that's the game. Because nobody ever believes this story, here's one example:

Scrolling down that page I see they also offer salted shirgar. I often wonder what became of him but frankly I'm surprised there's much of him left.
