The rear brake was dragging a bit on my M3W. I suspect it is the brake cylinder corroded, but am not 100% sure. Regardless, I have the rear wheel off the swing arm but the brake back plate will not release from the drum  Any tips for getting it off?

No great tips other than hitting the drum with a hammer and using a screwdriver to pry the drum off. I suspect you are correct about the corroded wheel cylinder, that is the usual problem with them. To help prevent it in the future you can put some red rubber grease inside the boot and change the brake fluid regularly.
There are several rear cylinder part numbers in the Alternative Parts List at the top of this forum in Resources, they all fit and are far cheaper than Morgan. If you want the option of making the rear brake drum more easily removable in the future, you can fit a shoe adjuster, rather than the fixed pivot currently fitted, again detailed in the APL.

Good luck with the bigger hammer!
By the way, changing to a rear disc brake (eg as supplied by M3W services) eliminates the stuck cylinder problem completely and as a bonus gives a dramatic improvement to the feel/conffidence in the braking system.

Good luck removing the drum! On reassembly, there are extremely small teeth in there to adjust the parking brake tension. Make sure you adjust the tension before you reinstall everything. And then learn your parking brake is locked solid. Don't ask me how I know this.

Maybe it's time for a M3W Services change from the old drum to a nice reliable disc brake?

Javier: I believe that you have an excellent treatise on the speedy marmot site that addresses changing the rear tire. I will soon be looking for it, and your suggestion of going to the disc brake is optimal.
