I have just been given a mesh front grill that fits behind the original. How difficult is it to fit? Any advice welcome. Thanks in advance.

Depends on the trad. Later cars had tabs on the inside of the grill to hold the top.
The two bolts that hold the grill at the bottom pass through the grill

As John suggests it simply hooks onto inside top of main grill and the pair are then pushed up into a slot on inside of cowl being sandwiched in place at the bottom by the two lower grill bolts also holding numberplate box if fitted.

I found it easy. Just take your time as it is easy to scratch the paint on the cowl.

Put some masking tape around the paintwork of the cowl edge...better safe than oops !

And also pay attention to the skin of your fingers.
The edges of some mesh grills are as sharp as razor blades!

Should the car be jacked up or on a bridge to fix the mesh to the radiator grille ?

Tis a lot easier if you raise the car and put the front on axle stands as it removes the angle that helps prevent contacting the cowl but it still can be done on the ground!

I made a homemade mesh. Very easy. Undo the numberplatebox and than you can pull the waterfallgrille out.
At the back you‘ll find on the upper side two hooks for to fix the mesh. Put the both parts back an fix them with numberplatebox.

To lift or Jack up the the MOG is a personal taste of work and not nessesary.

I agree, undo number plate box and then easy job no need to jack up.
