Hi all,

As you may know - I am in the market for a Plus Six (contact me IF you are thinking of selling!).

However, when buying what sort of things should I be looking out for please? I am well aware of the radiator issues.....anything else, please? Thanks

Honesty means doing it right, even when no one is looking!

Early P6 was prone to earthing issues, according to MMC, but I assume - by now - those will have largely revealed and fixed.

Early & even recent P6s had collapsing suspension.

As mentioned, vehicle earth's, also wiper arms coming loose, note: the latest arm revision sorts most of this problem, wiper linkage behind dash can work loose, wiper blade judder, poor door sealing, poor bonnet fitting, poor paint by wheel arches, rear brake noises, spongey brake pedal, front wheels on max lock hitting lower suspension arms ( speedster wheels).
This sounds a lot, but all the area's mentioned should be fixed by now. innocent

I have to say (MY23) that I haven't experienced most of the above (no problems of collapsing suspension, wiper arms, wiper linkage, blade judder, bonnet fitting, paint, brake pedal, front wheel hitting lower suspension arms). I have had brake squeal at very low speeds and poor door sealing, solved by MMC under warranty.

I'd be perfectly happy to buy a sorted 2019 or 2020 Plus Six, but I wanted ESC and Airbags, and they were introduced to the car in 2023.

Only had rad changed at last service on my 4 year old - no other major issues. One thing I do miss is cruise control, anybody had it retro fitted?

Our car is a Easter build 2020 Plus Six, all the area's mentioned were sorted by dealer or factory within 18 months, the only other later failures were the auto light sensor, the overseer module, and rear brake calipers, again, replaced by dealer. No issues since.
I believe by the MY22 build year of the Plus Six most if not all the issues identified in the early builds had been addressed by the factory. Our car just purrs along now, just the normal Morgan day to day related small issues to address.
Would I change our car now.. no its sorted and drives well, plus we have sort of bonded with her.

My Trad 3.7's got it (but rare - I know of only 3) even I'm not brave enough to try fitting the kit to a CX, but I'm sure an aftermarket specialist with BMW knowledge would be able to sort it

On cruise control, there's a good TM thread on that here: Cruise Control

On availability, there's a 2020 "Baby Blue" P6 with cream leather interior, walnut dash and matching Mota Lita steering wheel (and other goodies) advertised in August's Miscellany, under 10,000 miles, asking price £57,495. Bargain.
