If the option (automatic gearbox) alows more people to enjoy a Morgan, I have nothing against. In case you do not want it, you do not specify it!
Also, i am thinking: one pedal less gives more space foor left foot.
I the ratios are choosen better than in my 2009 Roadster (1st is too short), it may make more people happy than you think.

From the ad in miscellany it looks as if will be sold via Vitesse at Hinckley who will fit an auto box to a completed car. This avoids type approval issues. Vitesse are the UK distributor for Mazda engines and gear boxes in UK and already work with MMC.

Ah yes, now that I might go for.
When looking into putting a 5 speed in my old '76 car, I did think sequential might be a good option... No doubt a far sweeter shift than the Ford MT75 in my current 4/4.

Good to see Miscellany with a scoop story, well done.

For me true sports car cannot have a auto gearbox. Equally I can understand why it might suit other customer/markets.

I think there are three sets of ratios for the 3.0 Roadster. We've talked about it before a long time ago. The S1 (Getrag)has a 1:1 5th gear with a 3.07 diff. The S2 had an overdrive 5th (Ford) - about 0.89 is typical, with a 3.7 diff as far as I can remember without looking it up. The S3 may have changed again.
The S2 is slightly higher geared in top than the S1. I find the S1 very slightly undergeared on the Motorway - a 6th speed at 0.85 would be fantastic!
Intermediate ratios I would have to look up......

I think that any attempt by Morgan to expand their customer base should be applauded.
