Hi, we own a 1973 Morgan +8 RHD fitted the original 4 speed Rover gear box. I have been offered a LT77 5 speed box in good condition. Now, what does it take to change? Do I also need a new bell house? New clutch? New prop shaft? Do I need to remove the engine?

Cheers

Finn

I seem to remember reading some info on such a swap some years back on gomog.com ,I think there was some modification the a crossbar on the chassis but perhaps nothing too complex, if one has basic skills..?
Good luck in your choices Finn.

Perhaps not the Cheapest option, but I understand that it is a cracking gearbox.

Is the box coming from a 2 wheel drive or 4 wheel drive vehicle.
We fitted one from a Range Rover to my +8 back in the late 1980s and had issues because the front outputs to the transfer box hadn't been blanked off properly.

And a few others

Thanks to all for your advise and inputs. Understand it's it's a 4 x JA thing :-) = an engine out operation, a new bell house, new clutch and new
prop shaft.. :-( I have been considering the MX-5 solution, but it's rather expensive.
