I am a bit lost about that too .
But if the repair cost is greater than 50% of the value they will just do CAT S..
Could be an economical fix for someone handy with a spanner.

What does Cat S from mechanical mean please, as I can't see obvious damage ? I wondered that too. Blown-up the engine ?

Clicking on the info boxes, it seems it doesn’t start and will not move under its own power.

Perhaps is swallowed some water..? That can shorten one or more of the con rods. Would be good for an LS upgrade?

Keeping on the maritime theme just a tad, perhaps the duff engine could act as a reasonable mooring for a reasonably sized vessel in a sheltered location..
I helped a pal fit an LS engine and box into a somewhat customised Triumph Slag....

Assuming it can’t move under its own power because the engine doesn’t start, there’s a replacement B48 on the same site available at £1,500. Would be a bargain if that’s all it needs.
