Yes Ledgerwood still come up as dealers but my guess is they are just service agents. Try looking for used cars from Ledgerwoods and there is nothing. They seem to use Car and classic to advertise their second hand stock as the MMC seem to have ditched them from their lists.

There was a new green Plus Four in the showroom at Ledgerwoods when I was there last month. Alloy wheels from memory.

If they can make each dealer take just one of each model that will keep the factory going for months! Very clever when you think about it.

Or maybe not.

The reason many of the long-established dealers have left the fold is exactly for that reason, i.e. Morgan changed policy and compelled dealers to commit, in advance, to a certain number, model and spec. of cars per year.

Previously a customer had gone to his dealer, specced up a car and the order was placed with the factory. Morgan customers inevitably want to spec. the car themselves, not buy one off the shelf..

Given the uncertainty of how many, and which model, a small dealer would sell in any given year it simply became untenable for them to continue selling new cars.

I think the Morgan owner, whether Trad or CX, is a very special type of person.
I was surprised at the last MCD meeting how many older Trad owners had switched to the CX. When I asked why, the answer was always the same. More comfortable and automatic.
I'm not sure whether the path Morgan is currently taking with its dealers is right or wrong for the MMC.
The ones I've had the pleasure of getting to know as CX owners are actually all of a very similar type. They can afford something, but are very down-to-earth.
Ruut has already written which brands are represented at Louwman in the Netherlands. It's about the same as with the Dörr Group in Germany.
The people at Louwman were very friendly and also very competent and helped me very quickly and professionally with a small problem.
But somehow you still feel out of place. That's why I'm so undecided as to whether salespeople with ties suit a potential Morgan buyer, even though we're talking about an investment of 130 thousand euros or more.

That's what's clever about it. Mmc put their sales effort into selling to dealers rather than the public. That way the factory keeps busy, the dealers take the guarantee flack and when they eventually fail you just find a new company who has self belief....
Much easier and more efficient than selling individual specd cars to the public. And the added benefit that the dealer's cars will all be specd to top (profitable) specification.

The change in marketing may have also meant for some of the dealers may now have to work for their customers, rather than as in the past wait for them to turn up and order a car. back in the days when you had a long waiting list, it didn't really matter. Whilst now with short delivery times , the dealers will have to find a customer pretty dam quick, if they don't want new stock to move off consignment and to become fully paid up and on their books ,with the resultant impact on their cashflow.. Selling cars when you have long delivery times is a very different game to short delivery times and allocated slots.

Hopefully if production stays at about 800 cars a year with say 400 going to the US, we may see the delivery times start to extend again for the rest of the world, which may help residuals. if annual demand greatly exceeds supply.
