Hello all, Do any of you know how wind deflectors fit to the non studded windscreen (+4 easy up hood)? We're interested in buying some, but have no idea how they fit! Is there any drilling involved?

How's the windscreen fixed to the body?

I have not assembled any myself but found some pictures I took when ordering my Plus 4. Looks as if assembled in existing holes. I guess attaching the screws into the wind screen pillar needs attention not to use to long screws interfering with the glass The deflectors can also interfer with either mirror or sidescreen (don not remember which) if in "wrong" angle when door is opened/closed.
But it looks great!! Are they useful...or more stylish?

I used to have them on my +4 1959.
Well, my wife appreciated them but I think they were in the way when opning and closing doors.
I do not have them on my Roadster.
I think I prefer to have the side screens mounted when my wife goes with me.
However, I still have the aero screens, but do not know how to mount them on my new car. With aero screens the MOG looks very hairy, but I think you need to wear a leather helmet.

I heard that there are two types of fixing mounts for the wind deflectors. Flat base for the stud screen and curved base for the easy up screen. The Simmonds deflectors are glass, and fit inside the sidescreens. Some perspex screens came with my car but I didn't fit them, and passed them on to someone on TM. If they interfere with opening the door, I don't think they will be worth the hassle.
If you get the screw length wrong it will crack the screen.....

Originally I'd fitted the Perspex deflectors but very quickly got cheesed off with them interfering with the door opening so I replaced them with the Simmonds glass ones that fold inside the doors- much more practical!

Yes, me too - although it has to be said that the Simmonds wind wings, although beautifully made, are eye-wateringly expensive

I initially considered them when buying my car but running the car without side screens I didn't find it too breezy. The deflectors do look to be a pain with opening of the doors with the side screens fitted so one of those things I'm glad I didn't fit.

Just got to get around to fitting my Aeroscreens now Ken....... Still working out the best way to fit them and a neat solution to the heated windscreen wiring connector......which has been a problem.

I have run my car with and without the wind deflectors and in my opinion, the only useful purpose they serve is to keep the mirrors clear in wet weather. When fitted, they also appear to increase the amount that the sidescreens are sucked outwards when driving into headwinds. Currently, I have removed them and I think that it will be unlkely that they are refitted, so my advice would be don't bother.

I tend to fit a set for the summer, when I usually run without the door tops, and remove them for the winter, when I usually have the door tops on. It's 4 screws and less than 5 minute job. I'd be the first to concede that they don't do a great deal, but IMHO they look really nice, so for 5 minutes twice a year I reckon it's worth it.
