I would add that taking a good, hard look at everything on the front end. I found that if you regularly drive, then taking tools out to tighten everything back down is a necessary step in preventative maintenance. This car is literally trying to shake itself apart all the time. Your noise could be anything and anywhere.

What's your mileage? Who cares. Is it practical? See #1. What happens when it rains? You get wet.

If you mean the exhaust flexible joint part then your probably find its split the flexible part below the woven outer part. You will also notice exhaust gasses coming out said part.
You can get a replacement flex part and take the header off the car to an exhaust specialist to get it replaced.

Or the other thing it can be is especially common on Euro4 cars, the cats come loose and rattle. Had one where 3 of the 4 cats had come loose.

If that’s the reason, then it’s likely to be an MOT failure, so best not to ignore?

In the UK the emissions are not checked on the MOT for M3W's. The easy solution for loose cats would be to remove them. Maybe not so easy on a Euro 4 header I suspect but a fairly simple operation on Euro 3.
