I say 'belated' as I have had this account years, forgot my log in details so just lurked and read.

Anyway, I have owned my 1999 4/4 for 8 years, but have recently purchased a 2019 Roadster 110 Anniversary Edition as a bit of a GT for some planned longer journeys in my impending retirement.

Not that the 4/4 did too badly... it's been to Lands End, John O'Groats, Anglesey and Suffolk/Norfolk on holidays, plus the Le Mans Classic twice!

Anyhow, I have a question or two which I will post on the appropriate forum...

Tykester, its never to late to say hello. You must post a 'dit' about the differences between the two MOGs!

I trust that when you drive the Morgan you are “IIlkey Moor bha tat” as the son of Yorkshire and Lancashire parents would assume …….I even had an uncle who doffed his Trilby every time he passed a Tetley pub ( in respect but so funny).
So many words in this sentence that the young would not know - even Tetley, they might just guess tea bags ?
By heck enjoy the rest of the weekend,
MM
PS I do think about and miss driving the Snake pass in winter months in the 50’s with my dad…..and then me in my Sprite in the 60’s

[Linked Image]

Steady on there - Martin has a refuge over our back fence and he loves the Plus 8 and a pint or two.

Phil Vickery had a place in the village too up until recently.

I much prefer Guinness in the glasses though instead of fruit juice but that works better wkg on the Morgans [Linked Image]

Thanks for all the kind words.

I grew up on Tetley's - the first pint I ever had in the Three Horseshoes in Headingley at the age of, er, well it wasn't legal... we'll leave it there! I don't think it was quite as good as rose tinted Tykes remember - it depended on the pub/landlord. Won't touch the stuff though now it's 'smoothflow' and brewed in Wolverhampton (I think?). Not because I'm a one-eyed Yorkshireman, but because anything that is 'smoothflow' is rank! Give me a proper hand pulled pint of bitter from a cask anyday!

Onto the differences between the 4/4 and a Roadster - it's like night and day. The former is great round Dales B-roads on it's skinny tyres and revvy 4-pot, but a bit of a wrestle at slow speeds (I'm fine, the missus doesn't like it!) but great feedback at speed. I wansted that pre-war driving experience, without the pre-war unrealiability - and that's exactly what I got. The Roadster is all torque and grunt, and more capable on dual carriage way/motorway. Also, whilst there is a speed limit, I don't believe there are any rules on how fast you get to it? She likes the power steering and 5-link rear suspension. She's not funding the fuel that goes in it either!

The missus thinks I'm selling the 4/4, but I haven't definitively made my mind up yet! Shhhhhhhhhh!
