Has anyone completely removed the hood and the frame from a MY22 and later Plus Four? Is it difficult?.

The reason why I'm asking is because the later style P4 hood frame when folded rubs against my arm, so much so it's too uncomfortable for me to drive. The hood frame is perfectly fine when erected. and doesn't cause me any issues. So I was thinking of removing the hood and frame during the summer and have a full tonneau cover made, for when/should I get caught in showers and either put the hood or a hardtop on during the winter months when the weather is more prone to be inclement and I would most likely have the hood up anyway...Or is there a way of pulling/fixing the folded hood frame further away from the seat, so not to be a problem. Whether a P4 could handle the inside getting wet maybe another debate to be had.

Any advice/suggestions would be appreciated as I would like to get a P4 as opposed to a P6.

I gues you need two people to move it and only need to remove the bolt holding it to the plates on at the front on each side. See picture. I would use a tie to hold the folded hood together.
You would need somewhere to store it.
Mine though has the hi level break lights in the hood frame but that has a connector.

I have a tonneau from Allon White without head rest pockets. It works well.

The P6 is a tag wider, those few extra CM's can make a difference
My P6 as the original hood which stores lower to the body so is not intrusive and the main reason I did not buy a later model.

The P6 is without question is wider and I dont feel the hood mechanism on the earlier cars, must admit haven't sat in the later version. must try that for hood clearance. Tthere's just so much more choice in the P4 market

That is one of the reasons I got a P6.
I am with John that he shoulder rubbing hood mechanism is too much of an irritant.

Many thanks for the pictures. How does your tonneau fit (stud positioning) with the side screens in place?

Like any other on a trad. 3 lift dots at the front. One press stud & tenax at the rear as the others are hidden by the side screens
