FalRaven and now Barbour offer a dry wax that comes like a bar of soap. You rub it on and using a hair dryer warm it on to disappear. rubbed into the stitching holes and warmed then rubbed clean with a microfibre cloth should do the job nicely I think!

Rub candle wax into the seams for water proofing.

Thank you all, got the roof Renovo job done on the Sport and will get some Tetroseal sprayed on the Plus 8 bare bits tomorrow.
I have some Dubbin I thought I might wipe over the stitched seams.

Dubbin stays wet Rich but the wax rub on bars disappear when warmed.

I also use candle wax on the bonnet tapes, much less messy than grease or Vaseline

I also use candle wax on the bonnet tapes, much less messy than grease or Vaseline I'll tackle that on the Plus 8 soon, I put Vaseline on it and sure it is quiet but what a f... mess it is. I'll clean it off and wax it. The Sport is dry but has new tapes in and a bonnet strap so quiet at the moment.

I now leave my tape dry and have lined the bonnet edges with PTFE tape.... works well!
