In my view the whole classic vehicle market has collapsed. Probably for the same reasons that the market is not so good for modern classics too. I know of a collection of classic and vintage bikes that recently sold for half the value it would have had 20 years ago. It is a strong indication that a lot of people do not have the money to spend on toys and those that do are investing in gold rather than classic collectables.

But on the other hand great news for those who don't view everything in the world as an 'investment opportunity' and want a classic to enjoy as it should be 🙂

Gold as a safe haven in difficult times...? Was it not Roosevelt, who made it illegal to hold gold in the US back in time...? As for classic cars and the like bought as a hedge against CGT and the likes, with the combination of the possible baby boomer effect and that of the anti ICE brigade along with the predicted economiic turmoil according to some pundits... it may in time be the case some classics may have no more than scrap value, more likely if they need to be melted down to re-arm Europe....
Jeez.... whare can you go to buy some happy pills... (-:

But on the other hand great news for those who don't view everything in the world as an 'investment opportunity' Agreed. I currently have the sum total of £75 in my savings account. That'll be gone by the weekend as I'm off to San Francisico to drink huge amounts of alcohol and experience some amazing live music. My parents had no savings, I've got no savings but I want for nothing and have a fabulous lifestyle. I aim to die in debt.

I suspect it is all out of stock due to Trump needing it to decorate his new playroom ?
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.

Even gold is struggling now...... Hardly surprising with US stock markets hitting new highs, gold is the traditional safe haven when other markets are in decline

There is a low mileage really nicely spec'd MY22 manual Plus Four for sale below £45K in the retail trade, and its not been snapped up, maybe signs of times to come. Melvyn has a low mileage 08 LHD Roadster 4 seater needs a little recommissioning for £26K and its been there forever, I would have thought a bargain for our overseas friends or for continental touring holidays.. I also meant to included this link on my earlier response to gold is a safe haven https://www.royalmint.com/invest/di...d-remains-the-ultimate-safe-haven-asset/

The reasons for classic vehicle market trends seem kinda obvious as has been discussed to quite some degree, but always happy to chat some more...(-:
Evaluation of gold as a store of wealth... I think the royal mint may have some skin in the game there, perception of protecting their ass..ets..? Seems the dash for cash may be the new game in town...?
As for holding gold, perhaps if one has a physical gold as opposed to holding a certificate declaring ownership....?.
Perhaps coinage may make a comeback, with precious metals used in their production denoting value, perhaps with a cross stamped in to provide a guide to quarter the coin as a means of purchasing goods or services of a lesser value that the whole coin... remember to carry your snips in the purse...(-:
Shades of 2007 methinks..
Never did find those happy pills...!
PS.. I think Roosevelt may have used emergency powers to create a new law where it became illegal for US citizens to hold gold.... I suspect using emergency powers is not something the population of the US might put up with today.....???????
