Hi Nigel

I know this is not the correct wheels don't even know if it's the correct car and I know nothing off this company. but it might be of interest to you anyway.

Nigel, I have been looking for a good S/H Plus Six 18 inch alloy for a while, been a year now and nothing has shown up.. I thought the factory had both the 18 and 19" new in stock, but they are pricey..

Rutter's has the speedster type Plus Six 18 inch in stock, but it would cost you £1088 including Very Awkward Tax.

Let's hope the postage and packing are free ...

True, there was a run of cars written off when the P6 came out, and I have purchased a few of the model year specific bits over the years, but no sign of a good secondhand 18 inch speedster alloy.. Guess most folk went with the 19 inch option..

As a relative newbie to TM ( think 1 year just), why were so many accidents and write offs with the Plus 6 . Too fast and complex for oldies ? To fast for ‘young turks’ ? Love to know as it might direct me towards the PlusFour.

There's a few breakers on Ebay advertising Plus 6 parts, worth an enquiry...

Mike, I believe the reasons that some Plus Six were written off after the models introduction was due to several factors.. If you would try and drive it like an older Trad you can run into issues due power/grip if road conditions are not prime or you are using a lot of steering lock and then boot the car. There was a lot of discussion also how the autobox could down shift in the Drive mode if you were a bit sideways. From memory I believe there was discussion about a software change that appeared approx 18 months after model introduction that changed how the autobox responded..this would have been applied to the vehicles as they went through the dealers.
I love our Plus Six, I like its power and engine torque, but I respect its power and drive it a bit like a highpowered superbike from the 80's, that is, I put the full power down when its mainly in a straight line and I watch the road conditions.

I would test drive a Plus Six then jump in a Plus Four do the same route and see what feels right for you..For me the Plus Six was an outright winner between the two..
