Hi all, the easy up hood on my 2005 Roadster doesn't fit as taut as hoods I see in photos of other easy up hoods. My rear window has an inward curve and the sides of the hood aren't as tight as I think they should be. Should I try to adjust the rear locking pins or is there another way to fix this? Or is my hood just stretched out too much? Any ideas appreciated.

The straps that come from the top and then snap on the arms of the top sometimes stretch. Mine have so I have added a second snap on the strap to keep the top a bit tighter. It helps keep the top down when I travel at speed with the top up.

John, assuming the slack in hood tension is at the rear, a small amount of tensioning adjustment is available by screwing in the pins each side with flat blade screwdriver after releasing locknuts. If the slack is at the front check that the nylock nuts on captive screws that secure header rail to frame are not excessively loose each side. They need to be very slightly loose though to allow a little angular variation when header rail seated on windscreen frame. I fitted nylon washers between the two lugs to help. Finally, and only if necessary, the length of the hood frame can be adjusted to match hood material by loosening the two screws shown in image towards front and moving sliding joint equally each side. ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2025/11/14/2025-11-14-20-41-34-336.jpg)

Just be a bit careful with adjusting slotted joints as you may find that the pins may no longer line up properly as they enter the holes at the rear.

If adjusting the pins at the rear they must turn through 360 deg as they are bent and wont fit if not.

I found that getting to the heads of the bolts was easier by grinding the short end of an Allen key to make it shorter. You can just pivot the hood rails to get access to the bolt heads Peter. See my image above. I rarely use plain Allen keys anymore (unless there is a real access issue) preferring socket ones which allow positive locating so less likely to damage heads. I agree the various adjustments make for a balancing act though.
