Not too much overthinking involved.

1st Plus 4 - Had an insurance policy mature and decided a 50th birthday treat was in order. Knew I liked the Morgan look so reviewed the models available at the time and bought one sight unseen based on the lovely images.

2nd Plus 4 - On holiday in Cornwall went for a peek at the nearby Morgan dealer and fell for a tasty showroom model so swapped the Plus 4’s

3rd Aero S5 - Had a glass of red too many while perusing the classifieds, made a cheeky bid on an Aero and had the offer accepted.

4th Plus 6 - Perusing the ads again, came across a dealer bought perfectly specced Plus Six so arranged a part ex for the Plus 4

All except the 2nd Plus Four were bought based on the images without seeing or driving. Worked out fine but probably not recommended.

Mike, It seems a long time ago now: I was often passed whilst walking by a rather shabby flat rad which was to be found outside FH Douglas. I don't know when they closed but others will know.
Morgans just get under ones skin and we are on our fifth since buying the first in 1983. That first one did about 250000 miles whilst we had it.

"Morgans just get under ones skin"
That really does just say it all, everything.

My dear daughter Sophia met me at the sailing club one day (birthday actually) and handed me a set of keys. In the car park beside the slipway was a nice cream 4/4 and it was mine for the weekend. That present cost me my nest egg and a little bit more because within a couple of weeks I came across a low mileage one advertised in Swindon. Less than 8k on the clock and like new. Now it has +88k miles on the clock and still runs perfectly. Put new front disc pads on a couple of weeks ago and renewed the coolant. Its taken us to many lovely places over the years. The best without doubt was Chioggia (near Venice). Have gone there twice and can highly recommend it. The Mog was put away in the hotel car park (under cover) and we had no need to drive out anywhere for the times spent there. More of Chioggia here

F H Douglas started in around 1930 and used to retail the Three Wheelers (no Four's back then)

They must have been around until at least the early 2000's from the Ads in Miscellany, somewhere in the loft I've an old accessories catalogue with the blue & white cover from FHD

Clipper, your comment reminded me of leaving Packer Duncan with the P4 that I had just bought. Tim Packer said " I've just realised that you have never test driven the cars that you have bought from me". He was right but by then I knew what I was getting into.

A few years ago i sold my 911, and i bought a MB CLA shooting break in the place. Beautiful car, but it seems not "alive". It is like driving a computer, a game...
A year ago my son was thinking about buying a Morgan and i thought these are old fashioned cars with wood in the chassis. He convinced me that the Super Sport was totally different and then it all started: reading fora, viewing Youtube films etc.
After a few months i decided to sell the MB and buy a Morgan Roadster 3.7 but after more reading and films and a drive in a Roadster 3.7 i was convinced that a Plus Four was more suitable for me AND my wife. One month ago i bought it after a testdrive (see picture gallery). I have no doubt this will give me a lot of fun, and that the car is "alive", more than the MB.

I suspect you would also find your new Morgan felt more alive at normal road legal speeds, than a standard new model 911 derivative.
Wishing you and your good lady many happy miles..

Always wanted a Morgan. By the time I got round to it I needed a four seater (grandchildren and dogs) and they are always in short supply so for both of mine I’ve gone for what I thought was the best dealer sold one available- both times a choice of two. If I was having to make choices, given a heavy right foot I’d always stay away from the bigger engines and would never spend more than I’d got spare cash in the bank.

My Morgan "bug" started when I was 7. My dad, a coachbuilder, took me to see a Morgan he was restoring for someone. Chassis, frame, drivetrain all fitted and he was doing the bodywork.
Many years later I was looking to build a Catetham. A work colleague had just got a 4/4. It jogged my memory. I ended up buying a 1993 4/4 (Ford 1.6cvh efi). Mrs sospan was a bit dubious but soon came round. Joining in with the local club was a big plus. I then realised I wanted a bigger engine to make longer tours easier. Changed to a 2002 Plus 8.
12 years and a test of a Plus Four and Mrs sospan decided we would get one. Who was I to argue? Found one that was close enough to a spec we looked at and deal was done.
I enjoyed maintaining the early cars and was investigating future proofing the Plus 8. I'd already done some upgrades. The car was mechanically good but the ageing of some systems ( wiring etc) needed doing for linger ownership and having less things to go wrong and spend time keeping the car good.
Yes I'll be doing jobs on the Plus Four but less than on the trads, Easier routine maintenance/servicing will help as my body ages! I used to love spending time working on our cars but I am starting to prefer driving than crawling over/under cars.
