I should also say the car feels very light, almost effortlessly light for the power of the engine yet amazingly well kitted out and more rigid than a trad and more sure footed in putting the power down. You really have to watch your speed in built up areas, as its certainly quieter than a trad (except for the wind noise) and without even trying you leave other cars behind you. As expected the brake pedal has a long travel, just slightly longer than I'm used to but stops you all the same. I know the MY23 cars onwards have a different brake setup. I sure the extra torque of the auto versions, contributes to the feeling of ample power in reserve and available when you need it

It takes me back to driving my '88 manual Porsche 911 Turbo cabriolet, although slightly higher top end weighing in at 1.3 tonne had a very similar power to weight set up and it had that same feel of lightness with similar levels of trim. Controls were heavier in the Porsche, to match the Porsche appetite for fuel by comparison. It's the lightness which is so much more rewarding than heavier more powerful cars .

I know its early days yet, and Im sure I'm going to find some faults, but I actually at the moment don't care.

Have to admit to washing it on Tuesday, as there was salt/grit laying on the M5 on Monday from late afternoon onwards, I haven't polished it yet resisted that for now in the current cold snap, but only a matter of time. The car has the factory protective plastic film treatment so hopefully will keep stones chips to a minimum.

It is a great spec, I've had a black Morgan before and when they are clean , they are quite stunning especially with chrome/polished wires.

I had a black Mog . They do look great clean but that lasts about 100 yards, black really shows the dirt

Nearly 2 weeks of using the Plus Four as my daily driver, looking forward to getting her serviced at Malvern on Tuesday, make a day of it doing factory tour etc.

What I enjoy most.

Ease of operation, so easy to drive, nicely weighted steering, ride pretty compliant compared to a trad, Still feels like a Morgan and much of that is created as soon as you sit in it by the trad type interior, with oceans of polished walnut dash, centre consul and wood steering wheel, just looks and feels period.. Not so sure if I had the MY23 and later metal dash and BMW wheel whether I would feel as at ease created by years of familiarity and richness of the best of a trad dash.. A nice place to be. Comfort plus seats are great with a nice seating position. Parking is so easy by comparison no heavy steering. Whilst still tight much more space to make entry and egress with the roof up easier than a trad. especially with my size of frame. The cabin feels much roomier with loads of room for my feet. The central locking is a boon no bending down fiddling with getting a key in the lock, feels more secure, whether it is iin reality a different matter/issue.

Mirrors, wipers, draughts, small petrol tank


For some the loss of the tighter more intimate cabin of the trad. and of course the much less involvement/effort to drive the CX will have it's critics. Lack of cog swopping will be anathema to many. But I can see once I get the draughts sorted out, this is a serious all year round driving car, which will allow me to enjoy my Morgan far more than I ever would if it was a trad. No tucking away over winter, capable of covering vast distances with ease and arriving in relative style.

I haven't had a daily driver Morgan for nearly 30 years, my more recent Morgans I rarely used during the winter.I'm beginning to realise what I've missed, not so much the wet and cold, but the feel of oneness that you can only get in a light powerful two seater sport car. It's ability to focus you more on the journey and how much more quickly you seem to cover the same journey compared to other cars and how much more enjoyable and less tiring the journey becomes.. Even Susan remarked on how much she enjoyed the exhaust bark, something in a trad we found would become intrusive and annoying after a while.

Mirrors, change to convex glass, if you're handy swop the lenses - Dennis G Bull Glass Services will cut to size at very reasonable cost

Wipers, Peter Gilbert stocks all the CX variants but with a proper blade that works, he's on TM and has an ad in Miscellany

Thanks for that, I already have the better wipers fitted,,using it more in the wet means I'll have to get used to the less than perfect wipers. Thanks for the mirror suggestion and reference

I love that you don’t take a phone out with you! I have an old Land Rover Series 2a and I’d love to be without my phone but couldn’t risk not being able to call the breakdown company

Never fear on longer journeys (that are not local for which I always carry my bus card), I have a phone just in case.

I had a great day yesterday knocking around in the Morgan, having dropped Sue off at work in the Morgan in commuter traffic, then Xmas coffee morning with walking friends , then drove (just for the sake of a run) over to Matts at Lifes for a chat (as you do). Must admit hood was up, it was still slightly too damp (the hood) to fold down.

Driving in the dark, whilst the Morgan lights are brilliant by comparison to a trads. dazzle and glare through the clear windscreen is still a Morgan problem, I think I shall have to get a slight tint applied to the windscreen. Anyone else had this done? I think its time Morgan started to fit tinted screens to its cars to reduce oncoming headlight glare and low on the horizon sunshine especially around sunrise and sunset times.

As I'm using the car more and spending more time in it, and for the first time in heavy commuter traffic, I'm getting a better feel for the car and it's controls. The auto in traffic tends to creep forward more than I would expect, so you have to hold it more on the brake than in my Mercs., it could be the auto hasn't been adjusted for the much lower weight of the Morgan compared to a BMW as so creeps forward more.

It was interesting chatting to Matt, he has now started to service CX's, although he worked on Aero's since their introduction, he had nothing but positive comments about the CX cars especially when compared to his bread and butter trads .He commented on how fast the CX's cars are for the engine size and without the constant turbo dump valve action would probably be a real handful to exploit fully when the turbo spools up, without that constant dump valve intervention. limiting the power available.. Must admit the dump valve whoosh on full song takes a little getting used too, but a pleasant experience when the car lifts up it's skirts and heads for the horizon at a fair of lick. I'm sure over time I'll get used to the speed and be looking for more power, I haven't had to or used the plus button yet, I'm waiting for drier less slippy roads before I start to fiddle with that, even so in normal mode it certainly goes.

My service was delayed by Morgan, so I'm having it done on Monday, looking forward to see how the car goes after that, the MPG is quite surprising, seen mid 50's on fast dual carriageway at a constant speed, not too bad for a car shaped with the aerodynamics of a moving brick.

Still loving the car, the interior is just a delight to get into, just the reaction of some of our friends when they saw it the other day for the first time was amazing. These cars are just that little bit special and the CX is so easy to use daily, a real joy so far.
