Nick, one of my favourite Morgan stories which I read of during my time on eMog, was that of a Morganeer who had taken a long trip to Alaska in his old Morgan and turned up at a Morgan event held at a seemingly prodigious Morgan event with it..err..somewhat displaying both it`s age and miles covered, and parked up amongst many very smart Morgans causing a bit of stir, to the extent it was given pride of place and put on display in the foyer of the hotel...(-:

Burgandymog, sad to say, I doubt that might ever be possible, given it seems we (UK, EU) are great at creating new regulations to inhibit our ability to just get things done, and it seems we have been that way since the 70`s or thereabouts... Prior to retirement I ever felt restricted by paper handcuffs in the workplace... Sigh..!

Whether or not "MSCC75" is a success isn't the issue; in my opinion, the question is whether it's the right event to celebrate 75 years of the club. Even if each of the 150 available rooms is taken by two MSCC members, that's 300 out of 4,200 - i.e. just 7% of the most well-heeled of the membership. It doesn't feel right to me to restrict the celebration of an important club milestone to such a small proportion of members.

I've noted in the last Miscellany that (quote) "If you choose for whatever reason not to attend, I hope some of the other events in 2026 will appeal to you." These events will apparently be detailed in the December issue, so I shall reserve my judgement until I've seen the alternatives on offer.

Update: I was replying to an earlier post but I took so long writing it that a couple of others have got in and made the same point!

I would say one more thing. The rationale for not offering day tickets is that they don't contribute to the cost of running the event. I attend the annual Austin 7 Club festival at Beaulieu (some of you at Mogfest this year may have seen it being set up on the adjacent field); tickets to club members are always less than the public entrance fee to Beaulieu.

The Club is the membership, and so a celebration of 75 years of the Club should be a celebration of the membership, without conditions.

I've only paid my subscription since 2003, but mathematics tell me that I've supported MSCC for over 30% of its being. Many more members have been club members for a lot longer. Not only that but 7 years on the committee, so regulat National Committee meetings, and running the Concours for 7 years and continuing my involvement until 2023. Plus of course 15 years of monthly ramblings. And yet recently I've been accused of not supporting the Club, in connection with my views about this 75th Event.

It also shows that the members are not seen as a priority, and how many long term members will not renew, given that even me, is now seriously considering ending my membership. Over the years the one highlight has been the Mog Event. If the future of that is no day tickets, and by that I mean a simple admission ticket, then I don't see much point in continuing, because it is no longer the Club I joined back in 2003.

I started as CS for FolkMog in Nov and we hope to organise our NTMSCC 75th event next year but the reality is it won't be in the Dec Miscellany. Maybe in the Feb one.
But I expect there will be limits on numbers so whether we open it up to other centre & for how many is a mute point right now.

One of things I like about a MOG is meeting friends from far flung centres but we are not going to the official event.

I'm afraid that I do blame the committee of MSCC for the 75th anniversary mess (I would normally use different words).....
Who else is there to blame....???

The committee are driving the new direction of the club, a more corporate, less grass roots direction.

If as a committee they are content with the fact that such a limited number of folk are able to attend the 'event of the year'(😂) then the committee are out of touch with the membership....🤷🏻‍♂️

I hope that the 7% enjoy the very select event, the rest of us, the 93% will just have to make alternative arrangements.....😆

Perhaps the number of members who don't renew their membership will be noted by the committee...... but probably not........🤷🏻‍♂️

Come on MSCC............. open it up to all......!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Even open to non members

It makes it even more frustrating that the board of MSCC feel the only way to run the event is hand it over to a travel company, make it limited numbers and expensive.....🤷🏻‍♂️

Come on Jaaaaaaaaaaaaannnn let us poor folk who can't afford a CX car attend the 75th anniversary of our club.........🤷🏻‍♂️😂
