The high tax bracket for the Roadster may have something to do with it. I also think that a V6 high power Morgan is always going to have a more limited appeal - there are those (like myself) that are addicted to the power and torque, but you do sacrifice the traditional Morgan nimbleness of the Plus 4 and 4/4, which is a disadvantage for many. I have never regretted my 3.7 (I have had two of them) and would never part with it.

Perhaps the absolute sweet spot for Morgan was a car they produced in limited numbers around 2011/12. If I recall correctly, it was a Plus 4 engined car and designated a Plus 4, but it had the narrower 4/4 body.

I am lucky enough to have one of those 2013.

I consider my Seines 1 Roadster to be the pick of the crop. My wife and I were the very first customers to order a Roadster and I looked into buying one of the last. My wife's presence always had an impact on the way I drive and that style did not fit well with the rev-hang so kept 'old number one'. Sadly she passed away last year so to amuse myself I got a re-map from Williams and sports exhausts. The car now goes and and sounds wonderfully well. Despite the added torque from the mapping the fuel consumption has suffered as I'm now free to drive it like a hooligan. That coupled with hydraulic PAS added a few years ago and a size smaller steering wheel I love it more than ever. The addition of string backed gloves to grip the now wooden wheel seems to make everything sweeter and it's definitely a keeper. At 75 I don't know how may years I have left so I'm doing the NC500 next year in the Morgan but taking nearly three weeks to do it - just hope those feckin' motor homes don't spoil the view.

Good news is that you will only be paying £195 road tax next year David, having served your penance for having an "expensive car".

We are in the same age group Roady and unfortunately I know that sense of loss only too well, lost my little lady just over 2 3/4 years back, only just got round to really enjoying my old +8 again this year. My good lady and I covered quite a few k miles touring Southern Europe in the Mog which she greatly enjoyed... Perhaps a decade or more back we took a week with friends to do the West coast part of the NC500 (before it was named as such) and in Oct of that year, and the weather was better than we might expect in Summer, however on arrival home, the news reported that the folk were snowed in on parts of the West Coast where we had been almost sun bathing, thus to say the weather can be...err...changeable, does not quite cover it..(-:
