Hi everyone!

I picked up my new Plus Four 75th two days ago here in France, and already covered 1000 km bringing it back home. I wanted to share my first impressions but first, a bit of context about my background with sports cars.

I’ve owned quite a few, mostly British and “special” ones: several Lotus (Elise S2, S3, and Exige 380 / 410), and I currently also own a Caterham 340S alongside the Morgan.

My wife and I both love road trips (for context, I’m 34 and she’s 31), from short adventures in the French Alps (where we live) to longer ones. The best example is our June 2025 trip: we spent one month and 8000 km traveling up to the Lofoten Islands in our Caterham.

That trip was absolutely incredible… but, well, it’s still a Caterham; pretty “hardcore” for long-distance touring! When we got back home, we started looking for something just as atypical and fun, but with a touch more comfort for long journeys.

The Morgan seemed to fit perfectly. I’d always loved the brand but had never driven one until August 2025, when our dealer let us test both the Plus Four and the Supersport. The Supersport was brilliant but a bit “too much” for us: too luxurious, too expensive. The Plus Four, though, felt spot on. Even my wife (who’s not a car enthusiast but loves our adventures) completely fell for it.

So, after thinking it over for a few months, we signed for a brand-new Plus Four in early November. And surprisingly, it took only about six weeks for the car to be built and delivered! What sealed the deal was Morgan’s introduction of the 75th edition, which included several options we were already planning to add; saving us about €5,000 in the process.

Here’s a picture we took today in the sunshine:



Our spec:

- Automatic gearbox
- Sport Pack (Dynamic Handling Pack, Active Sports Exhaust, 5" driving spot lights in body color)
- Etna Blue paint with blue hood
- Biscuit interior
- Heated seats
- Walnut & aluminium console
- Air conditioning
- Diamond seats
- Sennheiser sound system

We actually saw the chassis being built during a visit to Malvern three weeks ago, which made taking delivery on December 11th even more special. The car looks better than we imagined, the color combination works beautifully (yes, I’m biased!). It’s also smaller than expected, not much bigger than the Caterham (SV chassis), but obviously far more refined.

First driving impressions (after 1000 km):

The positives:

- The driving experience is so much better than I expected; honestly the biggest surprise. I thought it would be more of a GT-style car, but it’s genuinely fun and involving on twisty country and mountain roads. I test-drove the manual back in August and wasn’t convinced by the clutch feel, so we went for the auto and I’m glad we did. The ZF gearbox is superb: quick, precise, and responsive.
It actually reminds me a lot of my old Alpine A110S, very light and agile. There’s plenty of power (even staying under 3500 rpm for the running-in).
- The driving modes (Normal / Sport / Sport+) genuinely transform the car. The exhaust note is fantastic for a four-cylinder, especially in Sport+ with those pops and bangs!
- It’s easy to drive, even in the city. The turning circle is excellent, and in Normal mode it could totally be a daily driver. Perfect for long trips.
- The build quality is impressive. It’s amazing to think it was just a bare chassis a few weeks ago.
- And of course… it’s absolutely gorgeous. Everywhere we go, people smile, wave, and give thumbs up.


The “less positive” bits:

- Storage space is very limited. We travel light (after 8000 km in a Caterham, we’re used to it!), but even so, it’s tight. Maybe we should’ve ordered the luggage rack.
- Seats are less comfortable than we expected. We probably should have gone for the Comfort Plus seats. We thought, “If we can handle a Caterham, we’ll be fine!”; but surprisingly, the standard Morgan seats are actually less comfortable than the Caterham ones on long distances 😅
- Wind noise above 80 km/h is louder than expected. Definitely better than the Caterham, but still quite noisy, any tips to reduce it are welcome!
- We haven’t driven it in the rain yet, but given how much air comes into the cabin, we’re a bit nervous about water getting inside. On our Caterham trip, rain inside was part of the adventure, but the Morgan’s interior is too nice for that! If anyone has advice for keeping things dry during long, wet trips, we’d love to hear it.
- The gear paddles… oh no 😩. The rest of the interior is stunning, but those cheap plastic paddles feel out of place.


Despite those small negatives, the positives easily outweigh them. We’re even happier than expected with the car. It’s stunning to look at and even better to drive: genuinely a fantastic surprise.

Can’t wait to share more experiences and stories here, and I’d love any tips or advice from fellow Plus Four owners about the points I mentioned. Hopefully this post helps anyone considering the new Plus Four!

Well that is a collection of fun cars.
My wife found the seat improved after drivivng form the UK to Luxembourg in the rain & cold. Hood up & with the heated seats on they seemed to soften & mould and now she loves them.
The hood on ours really doesn't leak but it is draughty. Take some towels or blankets.

On long runs we use ear plugs. One of the advantages of old age is I just put my hearing aides on mute.

Welcome to the fun.

It's a case of trail and error to track down the drafts and put additional different size 'd' section piping or neoprene strips to reduce the gaps.. Always make sure you replace the side screens with the doors open/ajar so the seals tend to fit tighter when the doors close

I know it's often easier said than done, but don't try to be too precious with the car, enjoy it as much as you can for what it is, faults and all, consider it character. The more you use them the more they seem to reward you.

.Carrying blankets or towels is sound advice, sometimes a little inconvenient in the tight space but better to be prepared.

I'm sure some of the cabin noise can be reduced with some acoustic material placed under carpets etc.

The CX auto is a great choice, so easy to drive and very rewarding

I put acoustic material in the doors & the back panel as well. See here. Although mine is a 2022 car. I suspect you can do the same.

Hi Axool and welcome to the wonderful world of Morgan ownership. You have joined a very exclusive but friendly club and have done exactly the right thing to join TM.

It sounds as if, apart from our ages, (I can double yours!) we have much in common, I have had a Seven in my garage everyday for the past 40 years and have assembled 8 or 9 ( I forget) and owned about another dozen or so s/h, and yes, there is still one in my garage today. I have also come from over 2 years with an A110 and to cap it all, my Plus Four is also in Etna blue, but with manual gearbox. I can confirm that you are right about the dead and heavy clutch but this does become unnoticeable after a few miles and having had flappy paddles on various cars, I feel that a manual is the true essence of a 'sports' car.

With regard to seat comfort, I have placed 2cm spacers under both seats, the drivers having an extra lift on the front, to raise the thigh roll and I now find it great, just play around with it a bit. I often had to modify the Caterham seats too.

The rest is as you say. I have installed stretchy nets and a couple of storage trays which help and a rack is a 'must have'. I have been known to go for the monthly shop with an empty suitcase on the back........

Do keep us updated as you do more kilometres and find various fixes and work arounds.

Congrats on the car, and thanks for the write up. Picking up the luggage rack from your dealer may be worth it for longer trips, unless you just plan on wearing swim suits to the beach.

Beautiful Plus 4 Axool! Thank you for posting and providing a detailed initial impression on the car. I ordered my 2026 Plus 4 last week, and am excited to take delivery in March or April here in the US. Your comments are very helpful, as we plan to use our Morgan for trips/driving tours. I ordered my car in Sport Ivory with Green Leather/Hood, silver painted wire wheels and the luggage rack with side-screen storage--we will definitely need to bring a bag on trips. You outfitted the Plus 4 with a great set up options--must be a blast to drive. Please post your impressions as you get accustomed to the car--its very helpful to get a new owners feedback.

Congratulations with your PlusFour, Axool. You were absolutely wise to go for the Sport Pack, so you have the Nitrons and the ARB at the rear as an important plus. Personally I would unvest my money in the Comfort Plus seats in stead of the Sennheiser sound system but maybe that is because I am exactly the double of your age! So does my hearing.....! I had my 4/4 in my late thirties though, and bought my new PlusFour in 2023. And maybe it's my age, but important for me was the manual gearbox....., so no plastic paddles! I drove an automatic too, and I must admit, the 8-speed auto is superb. But a Morgan should be manual according to this old man. My BMW's however had the 8-speed auto. It's just a sentimental thing, shifting in a Morgan, for me.
Have a lot of fun. Water ingress is very little to our experience, we drove quite a lot through Europe in the meantime, and as we were used to our 4/4 (which we still have), we found the PlusFour remarkably dry.....!
One other question: for you does your Morgan has a 75th Anniversary badge on it?

Thank you so much for all your kind words and tips! Drove another 100 km today through the mountains and wow, this car is just incredible on these roads. I’m genuinely surprised by how good it feels. It’s so light and agile that you barely notice its weight, super dynamic and playful in the twisty sections. Can’t wait for our first real road trip across the Route des Grandes Alpes this spring. We do it every year, but this time it’s going to be something else with the Morgan, roof down! Oh and fuel consumption is amazing too.

@Ruut Bianchi - thanks for your kind words! Yes, the Sport Pack was a must for me, coming from cars like the Lotus and Caterham where precision really matters. As for the 75th badge, I was surprised not to have it. I’ll ask my dealer tomorrow, maybe they just didn’t have any in stock yet? Because apart from the price I paid for the 75th, there’s nothing different from a regular Plus Four...

@Axool, did it come with the "Coach built at Pickersleigh Road" doorsills and the "75" embroidered on the seats? The "75" emblem on the rear deck lid should be an easy fix.
