I am a born petrol head, my old +8 is definitely far more polluting through it exhaust than my C4S, and as my Tesla has no exhaust, it seems to fit better for everyday transportation than the other two machines mentioned... I like to think I am A political, and as for the EV for or against brigades, again it seems I feel more comfortable looking at both sides of any argument... fence sitting perhaps..? If you might think along similar lines, then I suggest you might think this vid worth watching...?
I had a very illuminating conversation last night with an industry insider who has a position in a well known car maker. For confidentiality reasons I won't say which one, just that they are at the higher end of the market and it's not Jaguar. He was telling me that sales of their electric cars have fallen well below expectations. Their current EV models are planned for replacement and the new versions are being designed so they can be offered as EVs but fitted with petrol powertrains instead should it be thought necessary in the future. Hedging their bets with an ICE strategy going well beyond 2040.
He also mentioned that their fastest-growing market is Egypt because the hyper-rich Chinese and Russians are moving there.
Makes for an interesting headline, but the first sentence makes the headline seem as possible fake news..?
With Germany`s auto industry seemingly suffering a series of real shocks, is it any wonder that there rumours that EU is thinking of putting saving the planet on the back burner..?
Sadly electric cars will never save the planet. Way too much emissions on extracting rare metals and manufacturing, and even if the whole world is driving EVs, there would not be enough low emission generation of electricity. Commericial flying and huge cargo ships will never stop either, and the same rules apply to manufacture, So the whole save the planet thinking is a mirage of hope over reality.

Now they can move forward.
I guess that as the major european car manufacturers are so intrinsic to the financial security of not only their respective countries but also global money markets, they have to be profitable.
Choice. If consumers 'want' an EV they can buy one, not be compelled by government. Kier Stalin, Rachael Thieves and Ed Millipede will all be out of a job in the new year so UK policy must change. 🥳
EV uptake may grow 'organically' over the next few years anyway. Some folk seem to like them, the few I've been in, mainly Porsche admittedly, have been really good....😁
My understanding is that the EU is pushing back the phase-out date until 2040.
The European manufacturers have fallen behind the Chinese in EV development and production and are in danger of being overwhelmed. I would imagine this is a factor in the decision.

The EU have shifted from 100% electrification of cars to 90% , probably so that the premium brand manufacturers who pay for the political parties within the EU can have a little more breathing room to sell more premium none EV's.
