I only had the car a few weeks before selling it on, as sadly I found the driving position impossible, my dodgy knees meant I couldn't drive the car comfortably. A couple of experienced pals fitted the hardtop for me to demonstrate (but I should have said installed but un-erected electric softtop). As the OEM instructions show, it was indeed genius design, https://www.s2000.club/OM/OEM%20Hardtop%20B.pdf And the hardtop came with its own special stand and tailored cover.

I sold the car in 2016 to a chap from Norfolk. I well remember he and his wife were pretty miffed, they had loaded the hardtop and its stand into their Volvo estate, they had come a long distance but they wanted to drive off in the Honda before the online funds transfer showed as cleared into my account..... Some kind of I.T. glitch I believe, but as I didn't know them from Adam I erred on the side of caution. About an hour later it all came through OK, they drove off and I never heard from them again.

Corners very confidently. Front lifts on hard acceleration; a giggle. Brakes needs pushing quite hard. Initial bite poor but once going, good.

Rear view mirror terrible .. like looking at gold fish bowl, cars look distorted. As if you are wearing someone else’s glasses.

Very fast in Sport. Sleepy in standard mode. Schizophrenic in Sport +.

Build quality pretty good. Panels all align perfectly. Interior is beautiful, high quality and well put together. Doors are game changing in their solidity.

There were strange noises when going over bumps but that is what you get from low volume hand built cars. They were not mechanical noises, they were things rubbing against each other noises. Didn’t really bother me.

First time I have seen a SS in the metal. I love it.

The upper photograph doesn't do him right. That being said, I prefer the softtop. Drove the Supersport, inner mirror indeed awful distortion, I would have it replaced. I have Librands inner and outer mirrors on my 2023 PlusFour, but the outer mirrors today, on the PlusFour and the Supersport are bolted from the inside. So I am afraid one have to live with those.....!

From the side......... the hard top doesn't look too bad....... the large expanse of glass still looks a bit odd to me though....🤷🏻‍♂️
It would have to be the soft top for me.

I think almost any colour looks better on the car than the launch colour......🤦🏻‍♂️

And............ it still really needs a proper grille.....🤷🏻‍♂️

Well to be perfectly honest if I had another garage I would consider releasing funds and getting one, but the Plus 8 is here forever.

In twenty years time we will look back on these cars and realise how fortunate we were to have the privilige of driving an important bit of motoring history.

Tis easy to be judgmental from a position of superiority, i.e. owning a Trad car.

Whilst its easy to say, and I'm just as guilty I wouldn't worry about the other garage, as long as the Supersport will fit in the current one.

We were down with Morgan yesterday having the car serviced and did the works tour. Really busy, busiest I've ever seen it, they had to get 17 cars completed this week. The assembly area was awash with Supersports at various stages of completion, I only clocked about 6 Plus 4 chassis and no three wheelers. Oh my were there some great specc'd Supersports...I'm really getting to like them.

If you still hanker after a V8 they had 2 for sale, a 2018 50th Works owned and 2012 one owner, with a staggeringly beautiful wooden gloss dash...maintained by Morgan, which I really fancied.

Coming back in the dark some 3.5 hours journey in lashing with heavy rain, in the madness Birmingham and Manchester commuter motorway traffic, the car as typical Morgan initially full of condensation, couldn't see anything out of the rear window for dirt and dazzle from headlights behind, front screen similar (forgot I had air con which may have dried it out) crap, exterior mirrors pretty useless. Driving a black car with 2 small rear lights, a recipe for close encounters in the mayheim around me. A terrible prospect of a journey, once we adjusted for the surrounding traffic conditions,I wouldn't have swopped the car for anything else, the car was brilliant. I don;'t think I would have enjoyed the same journey in any of my previous trads, I would have dreaded the prospect of that journey
.

Life's too short too worry too much about money, you can always remortgage the house if necessary. For the first time in a Morgan, for all its less than prefect car to drive in really bad weather, we both de-stressed within moments of feeling very safe in awful conditions.

If you can't tell, I'm a very happy man at this moment...best Morgan I've ever had, got out the car 3.5 hours later, and it felt so relaxed and comfortable

Glad you had a good visit and very interesting to hear the sensations you felt driving back home in dreadful weather thumbs.

Really great to hear they are busy with churning out the Supersport, I wonder if in some part it is due to their design bravery innocent

+8 Rich “ in 20 years time we can look back blah, blah blah “ …..
Rich I really hope so for both of us and others of a certain age but I have my doubts about me !!!
I get your point though.
Seasons best MM
PS Hate the back and hard top but the pic looking upwards with the blue sky and with the driver one make it look ‘desirable’ but I could not justify another fast tractor as I describe my plus 8 to friends. Think I might have to pay Jose Feliciano Light my Fire a few time on Saturday nights to stir some latent emotions to expend my dosh on a new or pre loved Morgan Plus Four .

The hood didn't leak a drop of water,Morgan put some more beading around the worst of the rear side screen gaps, so much better to drive, still a few to sort out . At 70 + mph in horrendous rain (when condition allowed), the front of side screen stayed in place. no battling with the massive front gap I could never avoid in all my trads. short of using bungees wrapped around the hood frame. The car was totally planted, and the brakes and front lights did their job brilliantly. The ECU reflash certainly improved warm up times and the heater became far more effective

I know I biased but the auto is a great car, apparently 97% of the current production are automatics, obviously with the Supersport there is no choice, but if you go for a Plus Four also test drive the auto, they are effortless and fast.. Morgans like me have moved on since my first in the 80's, they have now produced a very sophisticated more complete car, which with my aging bones and aches matches me and my expectations as much as my first 4/4 did when I was in my early 30's and |I felt the need to brave the cold, rain wet to experience the joy of a Morgan. Well old age and a bit more wisdom allows me to enjoy a modern Morgan with less of the down sides and much more of the exhilaration of the drive but in aslighty more cosseted and a little less raw way, which with my advancing years would become tiring after a while on a long journey and increasingly less enjoyable. Kids still look out the window, open mouthed and thumbs up when you pass them......with ease.

Mike, we will be lucky to make the 20 I agree but it does make you think a bit more of the importance of getting the right car for you just as you thought through the Automatic Plus Four, I have heard nothing but praise for them once they cleared the radiator and brake issues.

Kind regards

Rich
