Given the relatively short time the battery will hold a charge - 3 weeks, would it not be a good idea to disconnect the battery when leaving the car? Either just undo and remove one of the terminals, or better still fit an isolater switch, which makes turning the power on and off easier and will act as a thief deterrent as well.

I doubt it will upset the ECU or even the tracker, but may lose preset radio stations etc. Does anyone know for sure about this?

I have done this on my ARP4, but then that doesn't have any BMW components, and the battery will remain charged for months at a time when disconnected.

All my Morgan's have had a Battery Isolator fitted or I have fitted one.

On restarting my impression is the tick over is higher than normal (1k norm cold start 750) and they run a little rich (safety default) for a few miles until the ECU learns the NEW normal for the car and I never use a charger.

I am old school and seen many a battery destroyed by overcharging with no discharge cycle..

As a battery is a storer of energy it seems somewhat pointless to me to keep it on charge - remove the load is the logic of the situation.

If the tracker is not self powered it's not worth having in the first place.

The Becker loses it's stations but I can live with that as I only put it on in the garage.

You can get an earth lead that unscrews as fitted to Peugeots from memory.

The CX Plus Four cars seem fine being disconnected from the battery

Connecting the battery to a CETEK charger is quick and easy.
I do this on my Morgan and have been doing it on my Harleys for years. I have never had to replace a battery.

CTEK just like Clemens! MXS 5.0, AGM compatible, so compatible with the modern AGM batteries in CX Morgans. Connected via magnetic adapter, very convenient.

Those Magcode connectors are really useful, I put mine on the rear Valance (Trad though)

Here is my connection with a fused CTEK comfort plug. The plug has red, amber & green lights to reflect the SOC of the battery.

I like the CTEK because the status lights are simple to understand.

I'm wondering if there is an easy way to route the plug into the cabin, to avoid having to open the bonnet?
