Your poor running on start up could be the Idle Air Control motor is sticking a bit, it should run steady from cold. The start up and idle range mapping is not normally changed much from the standard settings. A clean out with some spray carb cleaner sometimes works.

The S&S IAC p/n 55-5085 is quite expensive if you just want to change it for diagnosis but there are plenty of cheaper alternatives, have a look for the numbers in the Alternative Parts List.

I know that Krazy Horse in the UK had some additional S&S ECUs that you could purchase. Not cheap but I was able to get an ECU pre-loaded with their Krazy Horse Stage 2 mapping already installed. The stock ECU has the ability to change the mixture roughly +/-20% and retain that change in memory. But it takes time to stabilize, in my experience, and the engine needs to be runs under varying conditions. It seems unlikely to me that an air cleaner alone could cause the mixture to be off greater than 20%.

Note that adjustment is lost if the battery is disconnected, which is one of the huge advantages of an unlocked ECU. With an unlocked unit you can run the car under various loads and allow it to self adjust, then using the ProTune software you can permanently save the new map. If more adjustment is required run the car again, and save the newly adjusted map again. After I changed my exhaust (de-cated and free flowing mufflers) and air cleaner I did three iterations of this process and it made a significant difference.

I had it on for nearly 4,000 miles at various speeds and conditions... At speed (65 plus) it would kind of jerk and miss. Took it off and it went away

The first lead for an ECU cracker did not pan out...they said it would be thousands of $$$s to do it. Found another Big Dog Motorcycle guy with the 121 X-Wedge & now retrofitting the S&S 124 sidewinder in his Wolf. He is looking also. Does anyone have a spare ECU I can obtain to get the cracking done with?

I just bought another S&S 121 X-Wedge and will look at its ECU for another lead to crack it.....still working on this!
