Given the recent cold snap, today seemed like a good opportunity to perfect my sub zero cold start performance. At -5c ambiant and the coolant showing just -2c today I was able to refine Monty's extreme cold starting using my excellent EMU Black ECU and software.

The testing was conducted without touching the throttle, as it turns out all that was required the save the stall (only happens in sub zero conditions) was to add 30% more afterstart air and 20% more afterstart fuel. These two minor tweaks compliment my existing after start settings and my ignition timing lock stratergy that holds the timing at 18 degrees BTDC for 7.5 seconds after the engine has fired.

I'm now very happy with Monty's arctic cold start perfirmance thumbs

NB: It's also just started snowing here in tropical Rickmansworth and it's getting colder, so I'm very pleased I chose to change Monty's anti-freeze at the end of last year wink

In addition to the snow, it was minus 12 c in Norfolk last night, definitely hood up weather or better still, stay in bed weather.

Here for a good time not a long time!!
