I see Richard Thorne Classic Cars has gone into liquidation.

He owes me some money for the sale of my Plus 4 (on a commission sale basis) back in July 2025 - is anyone else on here due money from him?

Oh dear. I know a couple of other owners who found them slow to pay up once their car had been sold...Was a few years ago though.

Sorry to read this - I bought my first Plus 8 from Helen (Richards daughter) decades ago now, 31 years actually and once it gets you it's a lifetime affair this Morganing love

She was lovely - picked me up from the rail station in a small Fiat and absolutely ragged this thing in a most competent manner, memorable, I hope she is ok I know she lost her Mum a while back and things seemed to regress since that time imho.

I wish the family well as clearly they are struggling given some of the previous posts above here.

In the UK Porsche market here is a bit of a tale of quite a few folk sustaining losses relative to Sale or Return contracts (SOR) at one particular dealership which seems to have gone rogue. The scale of it seems quite amazing, and the likely outcome for all those involved seems rather bleak, as the only folk who seem likely to profit may be the legal and financial teams involved in the processes.
There were a lot of in`s and out`s, twists and turns discussed, and it springs to mind that at least one chap had insured himself against any issues arising relative to the SOR contract...?

It seems SOR issues are none too uncommon, perhaps best to read and understand whatever contract you sign on to CAREFULLY...?

We bought our Morgan from Helen (Richard's daughter) in 2010. She was delightful to deal with and even borrowed our car for a wedding car for a friend of hers (ours is a 4 seater). I hope she is okay. Must be a sign of the times.

In the Notice to Creditors, "The business of the Company has been and still is being marketed for sale as a whole or on a break up basis. The preferred sale is for the business to remain intact as a whole.".

I see from their website that the agent acting on behalf of New Elms, states that it is sold STC. Does anyone know if that is as a going concern, or is another party capitalising on the prominent location for some other kind of business ?

"Classic Car Business For Sale, Shaftesbury, Dorset. Sold STC. Asking Price: £530,000. Turnover: £850,000. Net Profit: Undisclosed"
