Not limited to Morgan market it's all brands new and old and the dithering over EV governmentally is killing the whole IC market stone dead and this is a forever thing.

Those that invested in cars for profit are in for a very rude awakening and the longer they hang in there the nearer the floor their perceived treasure will go..

Most on here bought them for fun and use them year round and amortize the experience over a couple of years so no worries, doing your own maintenance and servicing it's the cheapest motoring ever in reality.

True, but nobody can claim to be surprised or unprepared, it's not like we haven't known this for years.

We have Tim, but I think a lot of the investors for profit still have a view of the internal workings of their colons, dreaming of brighter days of recovery..

As sales prices fall then the profit margins on each car sale usually reduce (if SOR commission say 5% less commission on each sale), so you need more sales to help maintain the profitability and cash flow, if sales of units are much lower,,as there are no buyers, its a vicious spiral into unsustainability.

It can lead to some great bargains out there, although some cars just struggle because of specification or colour, no matter what the price is. Expect more of the same if the output of the factory increases substantially and lead times shorten. The market appears to be very different, I''m glad I moved into a more user friendly and versatile CX, which is my daily driver and therefore less a 'toy' or 'indulgence' as current economic conditions make 'toys' some of the first to go in these generally harder times.

Most recessions generally change the segment of the market that is in demand, with keen buyers looking for opportunities in depressed current values with an eye for future appreciation, the bargains out there today. Whether that translates into demand for Morgan is anyone's guess, especially with potential changes in the age profile of buyers in the market over time........maybe the cloth cap brigade are being replaced by much younger buyers with potentially very different tastes and expectations of their cars.

I remember when restored classics were the thing, then those with racing heritage or pre 1955 so qualified for the many classic road events, then originality became the desired attribute.....who knows what's next in vogue and therefore in demand?

Although my funsponge Mrs has banned any future purchases until they're all cleared......

So next addition will be in May Going for either an Ironhead Sportster, or an 60/70's Triumph, however not a good time for buying bikes.

Excellent stuff - I have yet to let mine know about the Puma ST waiting for me to pick it up in Kentville at No2 Daughters (sworn to secrecy until I tell mine) the Mrs is fantastic but worries too much about things, we'll see how it goes later on today when I break the news that next week she will have four cars at her disposal

Completing the thread link I did exactly the same when I got my first Plus 8 from Helen in 1994 - she assimilates quickly mind that cost me a new kitchen and both bathrooms renewal Some of us fall in Love easier than others my name is Rich and I'm a car tart.

As I have often said, whether it be houses, cars, arty-stuff, bikes or whatever ... buy them because the speak to you and for their purpose .... the money you spent becomes forgotten with time and current price irrelevant.

Phil ... both those bike are fine for a spanner-slinger ... prices of all but the rarest Brit bikes are getting more sane and the Ironhead is just like a big brit-bike when you compare it to modern Harleys ... with either, hang-on for a decent one someone's looked after and they'll see you fine.

Yeah, it would be sensible to hang on until Nov/Dec when people are traditionally flogging stuff off to raise Christmas funds and less people are buying bikes. May is right at the start of the season, so a sellers market.

An ironhead Sportster can be fun for short trips, but compared to the Electraglide you have , if you do get one expect large Dentist bills, as they have a reputation for shaking your fillings loose.

Just looking for a little bar hopper - will strip it down to the bare minimum and use to for short local cafe runs etc. Keep the Electra for long trips.

Had a hardtail chopper for many years, so used to a more 'agricultural' ride
