Good afternoon, unfortunately my M3W has been out of service for three months. The central timing pulley came loose and I can't find a replacement. Morgan Spain tells me they're out of stock, and neither is Morgan England. They're asking when they'll restock, but unfortunately I'm not very hopeful.

The part is SP 130045 or S&S 106-0740. Does anyone know where I can get it or where it can be manufactured?

Was there any other damage when it came loose? The cam bearing could be damaged and possibly a new cam seal and cam belt required if it moved about a lot when loose. Fitting the sprocket to the cam is usually done with the intermediate cover removed so that the cam can be restrained with the flats on the back while the nut is torqued. There is a sprocket gag that can be used to get around this. If you remove the front cover you will require the gaskets.

Thank you so much. I don't know the extent of the damage yet; we need to install the pulley to see if any valves are bent. I'll give your instructions to the mechanic. I have the seals and belt. Buy I don't have the gaskets. After assessing the damage, we'll have to look for parts to fix it properly.

The valves should not be bent, the X-Wedge is a "safe" engine, the valves do not hit the pistons even if the cam belt breaks. The full engine manual is available for free on the MTWC website "5 Speeder" page (link below), along with a lot of other good information.

To install the cam sprocket correctly you will really need to remove the intermediate cover and put a spanner on the cam flats at the back to torque the retaining nut up. You will also be able to replace the cam seal and inspect the needle bearing. The inter cover gasket is a large one that will probably get damaged at removal, you will need a new one. Gasket sets are available again now. All the instructions to do this job are in the manual.

Glad the info is of some help. This forum can usually come up with an answer to most M3W problems, sometimes even the right answers 😁. With there being no proper M3W manual most of us have had to learn from the experience and trials of others. Without Talk Morgan I would have found it near impossible to run my M3W all these years. Good afternoon everyone, I've already fixed the pulley by replacing the gasket and timing belt. It was a great relief to discover that there was no damage to the valves, as planenut had already told me. Thanks to the website www.m3wservices.com, which supplied me with several parts. I also fixed the speedometer with the part from Bunny, who also got me a pulley. We managed to get the correct torque on the pulley bolts thanks to the instructions in this chat.
