Here's a quick little question. I'm just getting round to changing 36 year old petrol hose on the +8 for new E10 resistant hose. The main lines are some plastic stuff that looks ok. It's mostly little connecting bits around the tank in the boot and some connections around the fuel rail and plenum under the bonnet that need replacing. I'm going for SAE J30R9 spec if I can get the right sizes. Admittedly, most of the sections won't be in the high pressure line but it looks nice and chunky, and I've got to use the meter length up some how!
The question is:- Morgan in its wisdom has an 8mm connection from the top of the fuel tank which connects to a 6.5mm brass connection set in a plastic fuel hose, I'm assuming the return pipe from the high pressure fuel rail. Morgan used a single piece of petrol pipe for the join but there is no size marks. on it. What size hose would be best to use for this mismatch? If I use 8mm hose will I be able to get a seal on the 6.5mm connection just with a hose clip? If I go with a 6mm hose will I get it on the 8mm fitting without splitting it? Any suggestions welcomed.

Assuming both are push on connectors... you can use an 8mm to 6mm straight brass reducer. just put the appropriate bit of pipe on each side. I wouldn't try to clamp up 8mm onto a 6mm push on pipe connection... and whilst you could try to get the pipe on an 8mm push connector... new style fuel hose is very subborn in its flexibility/stretchability.

Thanks for the advice Cerealsurfer, I didn't think about an 8mm to 6mm reducer. Blindingly obvious once someone points it out to you!

Sometimes it’s just a little outside in perspective that’s needed. That’s what forum’s like this are for. 👍👍
