Looking at a GTN and have a concern about unobtainable parts for the car, such as wheels, glass, panels etc. what is the real world situation on these and what else is not available?

Shooter of this forum is the man with up to date info on these cars which in my opinion are a true classic of the Aero platform , all being purpose built.

Wheels, Hubs, brake master cylinder, power steering quill drive, heated side windows, TPMS are all unavailable or hard to get hold of.
Most other things are generally available if you look hard enough.
Now the engines are getting on a bit- their Achilles heel is the simplex chain drive timing system and BMW’s use of an acrylic/nylon timing chain tensioner system WITHOUT an idler wheel for the top section of the chain as it dips between the V. It uses instead an acrylic/nylon u shaped guide only. You can google this.

Many thanks to you both. I’m hesitant to take the plunge knowing that there are some real parts shortages, which is so frustrating as I really enjoyed my test drive today.

Having had two - you’ll regret not buying it. The GTN’s nice as it has the roof.

I think most things can be found or fixed/engineered around, they are fantastic cars and certainly you would not regret buying one.

This mirrors my sentiment and also mirrors the conversations I have had with, quite possibly, two of the most well informed people when it comes to both the Aero and parts supply.

Have a conversation with Alistair of this Parish as he has an Aero Coupe and an S2 and a lot of experience as his Coupe was the Geneva Show car which he bought off the stand. It's the one Alex Gow reviews on the Youboob vid. Alistair will give you the real face of Aero ownership if you pm.
