Insurance is up for renewal soon so got a couple of quotes for “classic” cars.

First quote had windscreen cover requiring use of their preferred supplier and stated…… there is no limit on the amount we will pay for windscreen damage under Section 4 of the document. If you use any other supplier the most we pay is £100. You
must pay the first £75 if you claim for Windscreen damage under this insurance.

I queried with the “approved supplier” if they had any Morgan experience…….No!
So what happens if you cannot supply and fit a new screen…….. You’ll have to speak with your insurer.
Spoke with insurer…….you’ll have to get it yourself.
Who pays……The policy is clear, we will only give you £100.

Second quote from MSCC preferred insurer.
Included UK breakdown cover,
Included European cover
Windscreen replacement excess £125 if using their approved supplier otherwise £175 if using your own. If the approved supplier cannot supply and you have to use your own then £125 excess applies,

And, the premium? Competitive.

Hope this is helpful.

I have just used the windscreen cover provided by the current preferred club insurer, and Glass Assist who provide the glass cover were seamless in their support and were happy for me to use Melvyn Rutter. The whole process could not have been better. This was for a 55 year old 4/4, so not exactly using a current design of screen.

'm insured with Gott and Wynne, had windscreen replacement on two different Morgans over the years, both Factory fitted and four figure sums each.

Me too. Also insured with Gott & Wynne. Replaced at the factory (who broke one and had to fit asecond). Seamless process otherwise. My previous expériences with the recently preferred club insurer on non Morgans have been very negative.

Yes I agree, This for me will be the first year that I think the MSC preferred insurer has made the mark for me. Finally they are offering a policy with all I require and at what I feel is a competitive price mark.

Over here I used to have windscreen cover on my insurance and when I needed to replace a cracked windscreen on the +8 the excess for me to pay was $150 before the insurance would pay. The windscreen is straight school bus glass so readily available and easy to fit only costing me $90 so have removed that from the insurance cover saving me more in premiums.

Never thought about windscreen cover in the insurance as it is a flat screen without heating in my car.
I once destroyed it myself and that cost 80€ at the glazier...
