I have released my hood by removing spare wheel to gain access to catches - something I gleaned from this forum, however…. The plastic ford type handle by drivers seat does not want to move, even tho I can feel some slack in the cable via the seat belt access? So cable appears to be ‘stuck’ between the ford style release handle and the seat belt access at rear. Any suggestions as to how to access/resolve would be greatly appreciated?

It's difficult to lube the hood release cable although working from the wheel well can allow a little spray grease or oil in. You could also check at the lever end. Remove the single allen screw on inside of lever then wood screws holding surrounding trim as below. This can then be removed after wiggling it past lever to allow inspection, investigation and cable lube. Note the cable runs through a solid metal outer so no chance of road dirt getting in from wheel arch but the achilles heal is the 90° bend in it. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.ibb.co/2Y3SPdTW/HCcg-Gopr.jpg)

You'll need to remove the cable and free it up, if you can! The cable partially runs in the rear wheelarch so is exposed to spray from the tyre, it's a terrible idea with the cable destined to seize up at some point. I was unable to de-seize Monty's hood release cable, it had completely seized solid As I was also suffering from pin latching issues I decided to fit a pair of chrome hood catches instead, and I haven't looked back since. https://www.talkmorgan.com/ubbthreads.php/topics/803043/1Dave

The easy up hood was a humongous leap forward by MMC......... only 70 years later than other car manufacturers......... but it was a total game changer.....🤷🏻♂️ The cockpit lever is such a good and simple solution to releasing the back of the hood.
I always loved the Simmonds over center catch solution, it looks foolproof.........
BUT...................Dave........... what a really good idea to retrofit your own catches....🤯😁, somehow I missed your original post and video on them.

Watch point confirming Richard V6, post. Be careful when tugging at the lever, as that Allen head wood screw is cut down & has very little depth to it. Mine pulled out. Which in my case required an insert replacement.

Always release the front catches first and bounce down hard on the rear of the hood when pulling the release lever or you are likely to pull out the short screw holding the lever in, ask me how I know

That's what I do but only when simultaneousy pushing down on the rear offside of hood with my other arm to ease the catch mechanism. Regular squirt of spray grease into the catch holes helps as well.
