You’re right Rich, Pollock is a bit of a bollock ……he is a good player although my wife who is more knowledgable than me in rugby matters, spots more issues, said Pollock was standing around to often waiting for a glory moment. He needs International game nouse instilled in him, educating.
My other issue is the held up rules. Don’t go over the line if you are not going to get the ball down. Cowan Dickie did this again yesterday as he did in another game. This rule should be a scrum, advantage to the attacking team , accept even the defending !? It’s fine if a genuine tackle is made and the ball is held up but now I see players just going to ground so the ball carrier cannot get the ball down. This happened yesterday and happening too often.Players need to know they can ground, difficult in the moment but now so important to winning . Unfortunately this is not up for rules review. Best MM PS Borthwick to go ? Yesterdays scoreline might save him.

Never seen the Boks crumble so badly in the last quarter. The defence just disappeared in the backs . Cannot believe how many breaks they made in the closing stages . Unbelievable performance by Scotland . This Englishman wished they had won. MM

I enjoyed the open session of games more than yesterday....it has the makings of a great series......it will be interesting to see how the games play out when the venue hemispheres are reversed in November. I felt sorry for Fiji, not given the opportunity to really demonstrate their quick open play style. Well done Scotland, can't wait for the return leg match up.

Well it’s our chance to get our own back by beating Argentina this weekend in the best sport . Only watched the last 20 mins of last nights game and although I know nothing about or like football,, it seemed that Argentina were so good and positive in attack.
Finally I hope one of our rugby supporters will unfurl a flag ‘when we win’ saying You Lost - dual meaning !!! ? Don’t think World Rugby could fine us for that …….. Best to all, MM

Winter series sailing tomorrow then find a comfy spot to watch the All Blacks play Ireland, should be fun after Ireland gave them a fright last time and we have a new team together. Sad to see England retreat a bit after scoring a goal yesterday allowing Argentina to take flight.

On a positive political note, Argentina are a fantastic footballing nation in terms of results, but have been a basket case on the economic front for decades. Defence spending has reduced to about 0.8% of GDP so they can wave their Malvinas flags but let’s hope there will be no repeat of the early 80’s shenanigans. Having said that, we would probably be left with ‘Boaty McBoatface’ to defend the South Atlantic! ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2026/07/17/IMG_0412.jpeg) ![[Linked Image]](https://tm-img.com/images/2026/07/17/IMG_0411.jpeg)

Good game with Ireland, a stoush within the first five minutes, but the All Blacks prevailed extending their unbroken win record at Eden Park to 53 games. Of course South Africa coming up will be a different kettle of fish.
