Screenshot of dedicated wiring diagram confirming direct (LED) clock illumination from o/s sidelight circuit unique to 3.7 Roadster.

[Linked Image]

The main chassis loom schematic shows instrument dimming rheostat connecting exclusively to BCU. It's clear this provides the logic to give full intensity illumination to Ford instruments during daylight, switching to rheostat control when it receives a trigger from side/headlight selection. In fact this is all sidelight selection does since actual sidelights (hence clock illumination) are permanently on with ignition.

Caerbont replied and said they don't think they were the suppliers of the clock for the Plus Six. Strange, given that they indicate on their website they provide them for the Midsummer (overlapped with the P6), Supersport (superseded the P6) and Plus Four (albeit the latest model).

I have an MY23 Plus Four. The clock was poorly lit. The car went back to Williams when all the gauges failed. Totally dead. The fault was with the pcb for the gauges. The warranty fix was done quicker than I expected! MMC sent a replacement pcb straight away and that cured. I did notice that after the fix the click light seemed brighter but not by much. Nowhere near what you would expect though.
That reminds me, I still have my Russian MIG mechanical click on a shelf.....it has electrical connections ( 24v I I think)Possibly for heat or light?

Despite their website proclaiming otherwise ("Amongst the current model range; the Morgan Plus Four and Morgan Supersport both feature Smiths manufactured gauges. CAI also manufactured the gauges for the Midsummer ..." etc. Caerbont / Smiths) their technical department insist that they do not manufacture any gauges for MMC (and cannot make gauges for BMW engined cars). In some respects they are correct, my gauges turn out to be VDO, but I think the sales team and the technical team at Caerbont really need to chat together more often.
