Drive out to Techniques for my annual service. Only 3800 miles last year.

At last the weather was kind. I can't work on the car in the garage as not enough space. Started by giving my 60 year old Wanner Grease Gun a good clean. Then lowered the Mog back on its wheels. Impressed it started first time, then drove it out of the garage. Oil and oli filter changed, greased all the grease points checked tyre pressures and went for a short run. Now ready for the weekend

Removed door catch striker plates noting two spacers plates one side and a single one plus washers the other The mushroom shaped locking pins had started rotating both sides as their rivetting proves inadequate over time. Could have bought relatively inexpensive new ones but concerned this would only happen again. Popped over to my local classic car guy now in retirement but still working on his multitude of old Citroens. He did a great job of seriously welding the pins in place after I explained the flat on them must be horizontal and face upwards.



Refitting relatively easy once lower side panel screws removed. The ¼" UNF mounting bolts are not to captive nuts but rely on a single thick plate with two threaded holes instead of individual nuts to loose inside panels. Spent some time adjusting catches mainly for height which paid off with improved locking action.

As I can barely see the dashboard indicator warning light and the audible tick is too subtle on the Roadster (Mustang) instrument pod, I finally got round to fitting an Audicator because I had one on the previous Mog & thought it great being user programmable

Fitted one a few years ago Jon. Awful noise at low speeds but don't get folk flashing me having accidentally left them on now.

Ref my post above worth checking if your door lock pins are loose enough to turn. When that happens they can stop door shutting.

I fitted a simple motorcycle beeper behind the spare wheel for the same reason, cost less than a tenner.

I went for the slightly more advanced option - has a delay, so only comes on after about 10 flashes, and the brake pedal cuts it off so it doesn't annoy at junctions. £17.50
