I thought that too and but I also loosened them right off and it didn’t make any difference at all. Having said that it's made me think if I have tapped it on a little too far. Just sat in car and pulled the steering wheel sharply and it came part way out and clicked. I think I'm sorted and here is the latest picture

On my 2012 car (same QR adaptor), there are two points at which the adaptor clicks into place, one further back (about 8-10mm) than the other. In the rearmost position, the wheel can slide a small bit fore/aft, i.e. it's doesn't feel completely secured. In the most forward position the wheel is very secure.

Studying my car, I would say your wheel is still not properly secured. The locking balls should be in that rounded groove visible near the weld in your photo. I believe that at the moment the locking balls are clicked into the bevel sided groove that is rearward of the rounded groove.

I think you are right which brings your bolts are too long comment into focus. As the bolts are so long I don't think it will push any further forward because the release collar cannot be pulled back any further.

I would agree with Bitsobrits that the steering wheel attachment screws are too long and maybe restricting the release collar. A photo of the screws on my car below for comparison. The second photo you posted doesn't look like the steering wheel is fully engaged. Sorry about my mistake with your posting history, I mistakenly looked at the likes. The Lifeline QR shouldn't be so much of a problem, it is a much better item compared to the later Travens one.

Try rotating the holes in the collar to allow the bolt ends to pass through when the collar is squeezed. That might allow you to get the wheel fully seated. Then find or shorten some bolts!

I decided just to shorten the bolts and now I have finally managed to get the steering wheel to push into the fully engaged position. As I said I haven't taken the steering wheel off since I had it but would say given the length of the bolts it has never been fully engaged. A bit worrying but at least it's good now.

I've currently got the opposite problem - I can't get my Lifeline QR to release! Collar seems to move OK and I've tugged on the wheel as hard as I dare but it just won't budge!

Next, I'll remove the mounting bolts and try again - but I don't think that's the problem as I never had any problems removing the wheel before.
Any suggestions that don't include the use of a blowtorch will be welcomed!

I'm 100% sure I'll have that problem too if I ever want to remove it!

Once my Lifeline QR did not release, more out of frustration I pulled the QR collar back and pushed the wheel forward and back wiggling it side to side and it then released I don't know which movement released the collar. Cleaned it up re-greased and have not had a problem since; touch wood.
