Apologies if I am asking many questions already covered on this forum, but sometimes tricky to find stuff.

I am about to do a road trip around Uk and Ireland in my 2000 4/4 and want to ensure I have covered basics, I have a few niggles I have found useful answers to on here, some more serious than others.

Firstly I have an occasional issue where car does not start on key turn with a single click. Mostly it works and looking at very detailed service history Morgan dealers have investigated fault blaming not waiting for immobiliser light to go out to faulty relay. I have seen problems can occur with the immobiliser ring causing issues, so will investigate on return.

I am gathering useful tools and buts for trip and seen what others carry on this site, but silly question, I might take a small battery booster, but where do people jump from. Battery is behind and I could take out parcel shelf and do direct, but could not see other jump points in engine bay.

Having never owned a ford car of any sort, I notice slight whine in first and second gear, Zetec engine, maybe normal as we are more exposed to noises in these cars, reminds me of cars of old. Or maybe an issue?

There was a period where Morgan put a strange looking third brake light cars. They curl around the spare tyre and remind me of the eyes of the alien ships from War of the Worlds. I see there is no legal reason to have these if disconnect. I understand the safety element, but hey we are driving in wooden cars and they look real odd, anyone ever removed these

Apologies for so many points, I have many more to come

Just realised I have added to a non Morgan topic, no idea how to change

If a third brake light is present it must function for an MOT pass. If it's a strip LED at least 50% of the elements must function for a pass.

If the cosmetics of the cobra one you describe concern you it must be removed completely not just disconnected.

Look under the bonnet for the starter motor. That should have a thick cable going to it coming from the starter solenoid which should be nearby. You need to connect where a heavy cable is incoming from the battery to the solenoid.
