Later cars have a U shaped rubber seal fitted to the body edge here along entire length both sides. Unless this was fitted when the car went back to the factory in 2017 to have its second new chassis fitted after one of their French dealers had dropped and bent the first replacement chassis, mine is a very early car at April 2012 and does not have later modifications. Bunny, I've got some nice 3-4mm thick slightly compressible black closed cell foam that would be perfect for that
If you're going to Curborough in June for the MTWC event let me know & I'll bring you some Thanks for the offer but I don't think I'll make the club sprint this year because I'm double-booked. I did try to poke a suitable thickness of rubber mat into the gap but failed due to its flexibility. Hopefully my craftsman-formed piece of MDF will last the course!

How does the U-shaped seal work between the round chassis tube and the flat wooden body frame? A photo would be great if you get a chance... My car has rubber U-section seals between the bodywork and inner chassis in the area near the battery tray.

At another place in the M3W, on the chassis tube that my left knee rubs against (LHD car), I have padded the tube with closed cell plumbing heat insulation for 22 mm copper pipe, slit lengthwise. This has stopped my knee from getting bruised. However I think that may be too soft for chassis to body gap as in this thread.

Yes you have the rubber seal fitted as well...seen many an m3w with this seal missing. The way the later body is mounted does reduce this issue - I assume your existing 6x body mounting screws are tight?

I assume your existing 6x body mounting screws are tight? They are just after I've tightened them. How long they stay that way is anyone's guess!
