WIth the 4/4 the quality of your driving experience is down to how you drive it, just potter down country lanes and the lack of torque quickly reveals itself. stir the gearbox a little and with a bit of spirited driving it can be a rewarding car. I find the taller tyres generate a less harsh more compliant ride, I found the 4/4 cabin a little cramped for my large frame.

I've had 3 4/4's and must admit my '12 Plus 4 Sport with taller tyres than standard (better ground clearance) , no spare wheel and no spare wheel cut out, just a single sheet of metal across the rear deck so less weight and chassis flex at the rear, was my most spirited and enjoyable trad. to drive. The extra power and better handling put even my 70th 4/4 to shame by comparison..

I'm not in any way knocking the qualities of the 4/4, just in my opinion the Duratec/Mazda gearbox Plus 4 Sport was for me a much better car., flatter handling, more compliant ride and with that extra power made it my version of the ultimate light driving trad Morgan.

PLus 4 Sport was a great car and would take it anyday over a 4/4 for country lane fun at still quite modest speeds.Take it anyday over the Roadster, which IMHO had just too much power for the chassis and could not be enjoyed to the same extent down twisty country roads as my 4/4's or Plus 4. Horses for courses..

All of the above, I agree with as have had my 4/4 for 14 years & still take the long way home. However I often wonder why Morgan, never went down the Caterham route with the sigma engine. Caterham get the sigma crate engine, just like Morgan, but then change the camshafts & other things improving the torque & power.

Nothing”kicks off” on TM, speaking for myself, I rarely post any facts, only opinions and even those I change more often than my socks so it’s all nonsense really.
A few of you even comment on the virility of other men and how a modest car might actually improve performance, I’m not interested in other men so I wouldn’t know but if you’re worried about those sort of things, buying this car will make you enjoy what you have a little more.😁

What TM brings to the table, is a wide range of experiences, tastes and preferences, for one to glean what one wants from the .postings, as its almost impossible to have experienced all the various versions of Morgans made. Even if you enjoyed that privileged position, I've found that same model Morgan driving experience can vary from car to car, that's what makes them all the more interesting and enjoyable in many ways compared to many mass produced cars....in that whilst they look similar the hand building element can introduce more variables.

I was at a Morgan Noggin yesterday and it was interesting listening to all the various experiences of driving and owning Morgans, from novices to old hands, the common thread was love of Morgans. Whilst I'm really enjoying my CX, and I doubt I'll ever go back to a trad., it was great being immersed in all things Morgan and talking over finer points and listening to, and enjoying the sound from more humble 4 pots to burbling V8's. To each their own and "One man's meat is another man's poison"

There are some fabulous examples of 80th posted, the blue one is a fabulous colour scheme, with some great unique features for the 80th.........which makes them stand out a little more from the crowd. Best of luck with your search and I hope it matches and exceeds your expectations.

Yes, I think they missed a trick there. In my search for more power I ended up going down the GM Ecotec route back in 2008, mainly because Kevin Vernon was offering a complete conversion/installation service. It's amazing how much power you can get out of a small 4 cylinder engine with variable valve timing, variable length inlet tract and an exuberant ECU map. Mine gives 165bhp in an 850kg package, which I've been very happy with.

I always thought the 2014 4/4 we owned for 12 years was a sweet spot. We only parted with it due to Mrs F’s back problems and a requirement for more comfort. Someone will get a bargain -

It's only a matter of time Craig, once the spell is cast.
