I wanted the narrow chassis. I particularly liked the rear wheelarches which were very thin. It was a delightful car to look at. Headlights close in as mentioned above. I sold it to buy a Roadster as I was in search of being the fastest man on the roads in those days.....

Where's Dave when you need him........????? He's written the book on them....!!!🤷🏻♂️😁
The long door trads all the same internal size though....!!!!!🤷🏻♂️😁..... other than transmission tunnels because of the different gearboxes used....... It's all in the wings.........and the wheel/tyre width....... MMC took a leaf out of Henry Ford's book.......albeit 100 years late......😁

Long doors came in when the scuttle was moved forward by a couple of inches in order to comply with required space ahead of occupants when air bags were fitted, regardless of whether they were fitted or not.. All C&U* requirements. My '97, admittedly a +4 still had the rubber sidescreen extensions Tim. I can't remember when the newer style came in.

I would have to look it up again, but the 4/4 continued after 1997 with the narrow chassis and long doors. Can't remember the exact year it changed but the 4/4 Sport of the 08 era was the same chassis as the Roadster.
1997 Mogans spanned the changes which were not implemented as a big bang. So early cars will be short door. Late cars will have 'all' the changes. Those mid year will have some but not all. That's how it was rolled out. No master plan.
