I suspect it's difficult to get agreed value with the likes of Admiral, Aviva and the usual mainstream insurers (which puts me off)
Has anyone managed this ? I guess it depends on the legal definition of agreed value, Admiral suggested an insured value to me, which was slightly above my own estimate, so I was happy to accede to their suggested value. To me that’s an agreement. That's basically a book/estimated value at the time of the insurance quote, which I think you will find will vary inline with the car's depreciation over time. When it comes to cars being valued for write-off, all sorts of things are taken into account eg mileage, condition and age of tyres which will effect it's worth. I have had a an appreciating value car stolen whilst in storage on a storage policy and in fairness the mainstream insurers did a market value search and agreed a value which was well in excess of what I paid for the car....but that may be not be the case with everyday RTA insurance. If there is only a small difference in premiums between a main stream insurer and a specialist agreed value policy, then the agreed value would be logical. However, if there is a massive difference in premiums and you can live with the risk eg windscreen coverage ( I have only ever replaced one in over 50 years of driving and that was on my Porsche Turbo) then it maybe a risk you are prepared to accept. For me the real issue is availability of Morgan parts eg heated windscreens, and where I would have to arrange to get it fixed and getting the car there and likely off road time whist waiting and how all of that is covered.....if at all by the insurance. I have had an agreed value policy on my Morgan for many years and also had salvage retention as part of that policy.... In order to maintain the agreed value there was a requirement to have the Mog valued by a recognised specialist in the marque and provide proof of that independent valuation every three years. There are some marque related clubs who can provide a valuation service, Porsche club GB do so. As best I understand it once the value has been agreed between you and the insurer, that is the sum which should be paid out on total loss, or in the case where you may also have salvage retention, then I suspect you can argue with the ins co as to the value of the salvage to de deducted from the agreed value sum they are required to pay out... More than happy to read alternative opinion. The last car I had on an agreed value was my 991, and for that Footman James asked me for a breakdown of why I valued it as I did, and having done that they agreed with my assessment. The following year given the downturn in the market I reduced the value closer to the reality of the market which they questioned, but agreed to do... I had a windscreen replaced on the 991, which they suggested would have a limit placed on the pay out if I did not make use of one of their selected companies.... Which I rejected and had a Porsche supplied windscreen fitted at my local Porsche dealership, no doubt by a specialist windscreen fitting company employee..(?) The main point being that not only the quality of the screen, but the end product of fit and finish would be the responsibility of the Porsche dealership, and I would hopefully not be left as an individual to complain should the quality of the fit and finish left issues.. Windscreen replacement was circa £1100. When insurance renewal came around my premiums had gone up by enough to cause me to reluctantly think it was time to try elsewhere and as I have already typed , I saved circa £1000 by dropping agreed value and not much else if anything. Insurance on the Mog has always been a fraction of that of the Porsche, but the Tesla has ever been the most expensive to insure. Porsche and Tesla now on multicar policy, as to how that effects the change in premiums, your guess is as good as mine... A bit of a ramble but hopefully helps as opposed to muddying the water...?.

Here's Admiral's windscreen damage clause, which I think would lead to a replacement of a Morgan windscreen by a Morgan dealer (fingers crossed):
"If we need to replace any glass, we may use glass which is not provided by the vehicle’s manufacturer but is of a similar standard and quality. If there is no glass available and it cannot be reasonably sourced, we will pay the cost shown in the manufacturer’s latest price guide, together with reasonable fitting costs"

At the time as my existing NCB was used on another car and my other NCB was over 2 years old, so that NCB was lost. Admiral was the most decent quote with very low excess I got with zero NCB but many years of clean no claims on other insurance policies.Hopefully with a reshuffling of vehicle insurances coming up this year I'll be able to apply my NCB to the Morgan, now we are currently down to 2 cars.............but I've got my eye on a Harley again, so will be at zero motorcycle NCB, but as I'm looking at a 90's bike, the classic premiums are a faction of the new bike insurance costs. I'm sure it will give me hours of cleaning enjoyment , with the occasional local ride.

Currently with Admiral using multi-car. I included agreed value (assuming it might improve things but also that it may be a dodge) and windscreen coverage. I do have a protected no-claims bonus and a lot of years than heavens.
IIRC The Coupe had a windscreen go in 2015. I phoned Admiral and they were very quick, gave me a reference number and pointed me at Autoglass. I phoned Autoglass and they took the deposit from me, billing the rest to Admiral. I was told it was about £1100 for the new screen. They did say it came from their supplier, "biggest in the world blah blah" New windscreen was ordered and arrived in 2 weeks. They asked me to visit the Reading fitment centre as they wanted a master tech to do it given the rarity. I waited and watched and they were very good, taking great care. They did not have a replacement surround/seal and re used the current one which was slightly marked in removal. No change to my premium out of line with generic market changes.
Well in November of 2025 returning from getting the Coupe serviced at Williams a huge stone cracked the screen from top to bottom and nearly caused a brown moment. Not really happy driving the car given the massive top to bottom crack.
Phoned Admiral and got the reference. Got pointed at Autoglass. Pointed to on-line page to fill in all details. Paid deposit/contribution as per policy. Was informed they would be in touch to organise as screen was not in stock. Anyway one month later nothing. Phoned and was told they would chase the supplier. When I say phoned it was a 26 minute hold call before being put through. Nothing. Repeated again 2 weeks later. Nothing Repeated again and told it was being escalated to their purchasing team. I pointed them at Williams as a source. 5th Feb I got an appointment for the Exeter location to install it. Day before I got a barrage of phone calls asking for pictures of the car as they were worried the wrong one had been sent. I sent through the video of the Coupe and asked if it was correct. I was asked to turn up for the appointment. Wrong screen, wrong shape, probably an Aero Plus 8 Sent home having wasted a day and driving 80 minutes. Since then chased every 2 weeks with no response. Finally told an appointment has been made for 17 April at Exeter. Lets see what happens this time. I have told them about the plastic/rubber seal, I doubt they will have one? Cynical, me?
Judging by the manner of the people on the phone anything not "mainstream" causes delays and problems.
I will be speaking to Admiral about not being able to drive the car for 3-4 months.
Everyone loves a Morgan. Even me, unless it's broken again.
