I might not kmow how to repair my V8 or other car related issues these days but I do know a good hoody when I see one…!! We started another company supplying & decorating corporate and promotion garments in the late 80s and this continued until selling in 2016/17.
The trouble with doing Leavers hoodies & club garments - we did most of the Moto Guzzi GB Club gear between 2001-2006 ( because ‘the chair’ a friend asked us ) - the quantities are so small and hence profit.
This pushes up unit costs .You view it as CBA . It is far easier to do 500 or even 5000 of a garment than the handful clubs need.
Looking back now I wish I had asked to quote Morgan just for the interest but we were so busy and they did not seem to offer much those days ?
The last 10 years has seen such amazing changes in garment decorating. Adopt one new technology and it’s superseded in a year or two. Early adoption can cost.
Embroidery is still a wonderful choice but each garment takes time, thousands of stitches, many minutes each garment. China is so cheap for all aspects in this field.
Screenprint is still popular for quantity, Direct to garment print slowish but can have big savings, vinyl application, then a wonderful innovation printed vinyl, superseded by Direct to Film - then sportswear using sublimation print - all amazing options and it’s horses for courses……. . If I was a young man I would be back in garments as now there is so much money to be made, a £1 beanie hat , a £1.75 baseball hat , a £1.90 tee , a £5 or £6 hoody, decorate them and the profits are wonderful.
The US was always a innovator and had great companies with its massive market. Not sure this is still the case. May be Britmog knows.
Unfortunately it means I can never see value in high street brands and fashion !!!
Best MM
PS I was going to post a Guzzi brochure pic which included three member of my family to save the club money on our print, pick them out and win a Guzzi garment. I thought my wife might have objected but a bit tempted for Guzzi fans.
