In a car park replete with Lambos and Astons ... what caught my covetous eye was this ... the most perfect Rover 75 Touring ... thing was spotless and like it was sat on the showroom floor ... I had a silver one and really thought it was an excellent car (all the better for being cheap as it had the stigma of being an 'old man's car') ... wanted it for my garage, you can keep your flashy supercars!🙂 * ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/12/20260412_123642.jpg) K * does this mean I'm officially an 'old man' !! 😆

Those Rover 75s were hugely underrated cars, an old colleague of mine had one, it was a lovely thing, if slightly ponderous on the handling.

Yep ... really impressed with mine ... but, yes, handling was fine, but more of a 'Gentleman's Express' than a scratchers car. Mine had the BMW M74 diesel ...cracking motor and incredibly good mileage for a barge that my 6ft could comfortably lay full-length in the load area. I'd have another tomorrow if I could find one like this.
Owner reckoned it was unique, the only Touring shipped from the factory in Old English White ... certainly suits it (if you're prepared for the constant valeting 🙂)

I had the Rover 800 Sterling as a company car for a very short while, to test suitability for the company fleet, as I was one of the higher mileage drivers. Great car, nice interior, quality of fitting and finish not so great, it finished up being written off whilst parked outside my house. Apparently the steel is so thin on them, a well known scum bag trick was to put your knee up below the door lock and pull the window frame back, (do it with just your fingers) and bend the top of the door frame outwards so you can then get your hand down inside to release the door catch.
I must have been one of the lucky ones and got an absolute beginner, when they bent the front passenger door out, it triggered the alarm system as they released the door catch and they ran away. To add to my luck it was raining and the leather interior as well as a door and part of the passenger side B pillar was buggered up. So the car was written off, which didn't go down well with the Group Insurance Manager as he had taken us into 'self insurance' policies, basic RTA and we stood the cost of the write off.........Rover had very little comfort to offer, they were aware of the problem of the forced doors and the quite ineffective alarm system
Needless to say the company didn't include the Rover 800 in its fleet following that incident, anyways not as nice a car as the Rover SDI were, also crap BL build quality and poor storage facility handling.
Always like the Rover brand one of my Uncles had a succession of them from P4 Rover 75 upto the P5 3Lr and 3.5 coupe, always gave the impression of rich wood and leather one would find in a Gentlemen's' Club.

I really like the Rover 75, too. It’s a shame that there’s nothing like that on the new car market anymore—a reasonably affordable car with that British flair, something like a poor-mans-Bentley.

Nice car from a drivers perspective - the inside. Would be nice to combine a 75 interiour and the Jag S-type body....

Fired up the old Mog and enjoyed a clockwise 75 mile rumble round the Trossachs. Only a month or so since I last made the trip though it seems the overnight frosts of late seemed to have increased the number of pot holes, pity, but still a wonderful asset to have such locations close to home... (-: As it is drive it day tomorrow might use the mog to get in my usual weekly Sunday early morning shopping....(-:

Morgan Challenge Spa. Yesterday I went to Spa early in the morning to see the Morgan drivers at work. Good weather was promised but thick fog in the morning. Even must use the wipers to have sufficient visibility. From Liège on and therefore a bit higher above sea level, sun and beautiful weather for the rest of the day. The parking lot was on the right side of the circuit. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7402.jpg) Immediately ended up at the Morgan paddock. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7409.md.jpg) Where the unpacking was still going on. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7405.md.jpg) Other races of Spa Summer Classic 2026 were already underway. L Ruff of Williams was on pole and dominated the race. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7477.jpg) His lead after 1 lap. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7500.jpg) J Emberson came 2° in class with his Babydoll ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7531.md.jpg) But the success is celebrated together. ![[Linked Image]](https://www.tm-img.com/images/2026/04/26/DSCN7517.1.jpg) Even alone, it was a beautiful day a nice 2h drive home along quiet country roads tops it off. Will definitely be back next time.
