Got in the car awkwardly and cracked my drivers side screen. I do have a spare 4mm thick passenger side screen so can get a new one made. However before I do that, just checking to see if anyone has a drivers side one ready made they want to part with. Thank you.

You may struggle to find anyone who is willing to part with one as Fairbourne no longer supply them and Kevin who used to work there is no longer making replacements. The price he quoted me for the last pair of replacement 5mm screens that he had was over £650…!!!

the last pair of replacement 5mm screens that he had was over £650…!!! That is an absolutely astronomical price! presumably they are curved in 3 dimensions? The last polycarbonate sheet I bought was cut to size, 350 x 400 with radiused corners and was less than £20 a sheet.

Yes it was a struggle to get up off the floor when Kevin told me !. The problem is that the polycarbonate that was used was “Lexan Margard”, a hard coated polycarbonate that apparently is now no longer available in small quantities.
Sheet Plastics in Leicestershire sell a hard coated polycarbonate “Poly Guard” which is available in small sizes and is priced reasonably.

Have a look at Makrolon. We used it in the factory for clear safety screens on macinery. ebay, amazon abd specialists supply it in a range of sizes. Our engineers could also put some curves/bends in it using carefull heat.

The later Fairbourne screens were 5mm thick (as opposed to the earlier 4mm ones) in an attempt to prevent cracking. However, they weren't particularly well finished on the lower edges (with rough sawn edges and sharp corners) so cracks did still propagate. At the risk of stating the obvious, any replacements should have polished edges and relieved radius's to prevent this.
