Yes it was a static display for 2 periods of over 6 years each, as it wasn't MOT'd.......the pictures don't do it justice, it is a staggering paintjob and , most of the shinny stuff is machined from solid billets of aluminium including the wheels. These were seriously expensive machines even in the mid 90's they ranged from Β£50k for more standard build to Β£80K plus for the more modified frame and tinwork versions, were a standard Harley was Β£!2 to 15K by comparison. Each bike is unique paintwork one of one , unlike the later factory CVO special custom paint schemes which would run into hundreds, if not thousands of each special paint scheme produced.

Yes they are quite heavy this one is about 280kg.....I've been doing my bit to improve diet, my strength. inner core and overall ]fitness, playing badminton, table tennis, will soon be playing tennis thru the summer and daily walks...not quite given up just yet, on life. Taken a good year so far and now I'm accelerating the exercise regime.as I'm feeling the benefit from it.

Always wanted a Battistini Harley, they are quite rare, this one is available and need to take that opportunity. Doesn't bother me too much if I use it that much outside of local trips and meet up with mates. I'll have the pleasure of knowing I have such a bike and prefer it to money in the bank.....the one thing that recessions do drive out is rare vehicles/bikes at reasonable prices/ and for a change I'm unashamedly taking advantage of that. You are only here once.

John ... hadn't heard of Battistini as a custom builder ... thanks for the head's-up.

Seems firmly in the 'Digger' genre.

They had a Bournemouth base, he was the son of the local Italian ice cream parlour/cafe owners. Started in 1990, and although the Battistini parts and accessories are still produced in USA and Italy, the UK operations closed down a few years ago when the owner passed away. They started out just fitting lots of Arlen Ness accessories and special one off paint jobs, but then started to modify and produce their own frames and tin ware and their own accessory range, there are some staggering examples of their designs on the net. Not too every ones taste and not as extreme as some custom builders.............

Mine Is a more mild example of their work, which suits me from a riding prospective but here is an example they produced just after mine, a more tweaked example, but probably not as much fun to ride.

That's my intention, getting reasonable insurance quotes, even quotes at all, is proving interesting, it's basically a stage 1 Harley with a few shinny bits replaced and paint.....but the list of like for like accessory changes, are too many for many insurers, even though it was done from new by a workshop

. I was expecting a sizeable insurance premium but already some are 3 times over the quote for it as a standard stage 1 Harley....I suppose that's the price of art. I can see why it was a static display for a long time............such is life.

I managed to get mine insured for Β£140TPFT which I thought was reasonable as I didn't have any NCB to use (I've used it on the other one).

Can't see the point in Fully Comp as I do all the work myself and nothing is that expensive.

It's not helped by all my many years of motorcycle earned NCB has elapsed as over 2 years old since last policy......some insurers now want to know if its more than just 2 months since your last motorcycle as far as considering continuous riding experience!

I insured my MG midget racecar for the road through Peter Best Insurance ... it's a full-on Racer and the list of tuning, body and suspension mods ran to two A4 sheets ... was pretty cheap ... may be worth a try

Thanks for that, I'm having to supply colour photographs and detail listings of the Arlen Parts fitted, I'm starting to get a few decent quotes, thank goodness it still has the Harley frame and VIN number, and tin ware .
