Looks like Peter's Tarka is back up for sale, via Collecting Cars auction:

https://collectingcars.com/for-sale/2014-morgan-plus-8-1

The summary notes an equestrian incident:

"Specific notes from the seller include: The nearside wings have been replaced and repainted by Morgan Motor Works due to a stationary incident where a horse walking over the car necessitated replacement."

I know Peter had some issues but that seems to be a new one!

I well remember Peter`s frustration with the crazy brake light control system, which may have been the final nail in thee coffin for Tarka, which if I remember he then went over to the dark side and bought a Porsche, truly hope it worked out to be problem free, though Porsche problems may be more expensive to resolve on occasion.....? Per haps best not to ask me how I know.and risk starting me off on another rant...(-:

I think he bought a Boxster. Didn't Tarka need new wishbone joints which are an MMC special at £ thousands . Hence the sale after he got it sorted.

He was destined to be MSCC chair at one point I think, then went over to the dark side with Porsche....
The Boxster is a brilliant, if soulless, car, compared to a Morgan.........😁

I saw the car on collecting cars this morning and thought it must be his old car.

He had issues with his lungs (COPD I think) so decided not to persue the MMC role.
His last post was in 2024 & I do have contact details so have told him about Tarka.

Does anyone know if Peter J sold his car locally ? The seller location is stated as Woodgreen (the Woodgreen that I know is near Salisbury, as opposed to Wood Green London).

Thanks, thought so -- that confirms it hasn't migrated to the Big Smoke. Previously Tarka was registered P7APR and if you Google that there are numerous pics and comments. Pictured here outside the excellent Langton Arms pub near Fordingbridge/Salisbury

Wonder where it is now ? Possibly on retention (hopefully not written-off). The photo credit for this one reads "Brooklands Museum, 24-Apr-22".

Jenks sold his car locally to a pal of his - I have his email I'll PM to serious enquirers with the caveat below.

He has very much left Morgan behind him though after the abysmal experience of a sequence of canbus nonsense that Williams never did seem to grasp, so a sad way to exit TM..

Irony that he used Tarka for taking bales on the rack up to their livery yard for Merlin to consume - Caroline being the horse rider.

The Boxter is fulfilling all his and Carolines requirements last I heard, so a good ending to his TM days.

I had contact with Peter in November 2025, so 6 months ago. he told me that he sadly lost Caroline in April 2025 but fortunately has good support from his children. He sold the Boxter and Carolines MB AMG and now drives a Porsche Panamera 4S. We met regulary during Morgan events in the past. I simply was thinking how they were doing, so I contacted, I did not expect that Caroline had passed away. it is a sad story but it's how it is. I gave him our condoleances.

Saw Peter last September at Old Sarum Airfield (museum well worth visiting by the way) ...where he was volunteering. We briefly chatted about cars and he did mention that the Porsche was very quick!

Meanwhile a photo from 2015. Unfortunately some bloke nearly ruined my picture of Peter & Tarka. ooo

Is no one concerned about the shadowy figure hiding at the back of the photo?!

I see that with 3-1/2 days to run, 17 bids have taken it to £26,250. A dealer in Eastleigh (near Southampton) and a private bidder are tussling.

Chandler's Ford, near Eastleigh. I go past them occasionally. Doesn't seem to fit with their usual fare, so perhaps the dealer wants to buy it 'through the books' as a company car!

It's hardly an overnight thing is it ?

A quick look through Car and Classic over the last 3 years the decline in all Classics has bombed.

Indeed, and I'm struggling to see why this is supposed to be a bad thing, it opens up the opportunity to own nice cars to more people.

That really is the important thing that more people get to enjoy the fun. When I am asked about the cars I go to great lengths about the falling prices.

My expectation has never been to make or even retain money on a Morgan, or indeed any classic car. Or pretty much any form of transport (think horses, boats and aircraft !) The only things I think I have successfully earned money from are investments in education and bricks and mortar. That being said, if you offered even silly money for my 4/4 you would not buy it, as it has non monetary value to me. On the other hand, the Seat Leon 1.5 PHEV I have has probably lost 10k in the last year, and given that it is stuffed full of pretty crappy and unecessary software you could have it for tuppence.

Don't forget that £39.500 is still an enormous amount of money - well in excess of the national average salary. It you combined the values of my Mog, MG, 2 x Harleys and Kawasaki I'd still be over £10K shy of that amount.

Completely agree, and any earnings on the house are largely irrelevant as I'll probably never reap any benefit unless I have to release equity in my dotage.

My education has cost me a bit over the years, but have had the benefit of an amazing career which may not have had the best financial rewards, but more than made up for it in fulfilment and self worth.

Classic cars dropping in value, ICE issues, cost of living, world uncertainty and I can perhaps understand .

Off topic but it was mentioned above

What I have never understood is houses getting older and older and values rising stupidly . Mine has gone up 7500% in 44 years , Equity in your hose might make you feel good , especially on paper but it’s somewhat meaningless.
No benefit to us unless we do something. Stay and house block, downsize as we rattle and use so few rooms, 5 toilets as we anre full of……
Equity release or just move next to Rich+8 ho ho ho !!! Not happy for my headstone to say, should have sold the house before…..this. Cannot wait for some party to reduce or remove stamp duty.

Housing policy is something that needs serious thought .

I wonder if the new owner knows just how much of a bargain they've got.

If I remember correctly, Peter had done a lot of work on the car, notwithstanding the invisible work on the electrics and the visible upgraded headlamps with day running lights. There's also SSL suspension on there... Peter is an engineer at heart, so who knows what other fettling has gone on!
