Big Hmmm…………before retirement one of our businesses was garment decoration, screen print, vinyl print , DTF and embroidery………not once did we produce anything that was copyright without permission, given as the client was the trade mark holder. I did know someone who was big in fake branding and got into serious trouble.
It’s like our other litho business, easy to print money but you got 25 years when caught , to deter . !!!. We used to get well beaten on price when quoting against one printer to the Agency world, then we learnt along with Mr Plod that his main print runs were Spanish Pesetas and German Marks …….the Spanish villas were a clue !

Not my call but I would suggest a deletion of the pics/post unless by some reason they have rights to use (unlikely)?
Best MM
PS Blow up the computer pic and there is a lot of information…..

It is quite some decades back that it seemed companies appear to have woken up to the value in their branding...?

I don`t know for sure but it seemed like Harley Davidson were amongst the front runners in this, and given the American preponderance to litigation of all sorts, that kinda fits... ? I was in the m/cycle section of the BMW club GB around that time and remember that BMW required the club to alter it`s logo on headings and all else. Also seem to remember Morgan waking up to the game by not only copyrighting their name and the script it was presented in, but the outline of the trad too, and in later times the wings on the badge of new models were altered from the original, no doubt there will be a story behind that. I even think copyright and other legal devices were threatened in attempts to frighten off web based discussion groups from criticising Morgan`s..err...possible foibles, perhaps originating at the MMC of the time and perhaps passed on to the now defunct MSCCDG to assist in applying pressure, but it seems in time that the official club internet resource was initially binned, given the interweb around that time was a bit of a wild west show...Fortunately things seem so much more civilised these days....Well at least here on TM.. THANKS Simon..(-:

Fender guitars are in the process of suing any body who makes or sells guitars similar to their S shaped Stratocaster . I think they have just one a judgement in Germany that covers the EU.

Yep, looks like brand suicide to me. A real Ratner moment by Servco.

Harley took it a stage further and tried to patent/trademark its 'potato, potato' sound of its engine. However, Harley-Davidson was unsuccessful and never managed to patent or successfully trademarked the iconic "potato-potato" sound. The company filed a trademark application for the sound of its V-twin engines in 1994. After six years of fierce legal challenges and opposition from rival motorcycle manufacturers—who argued that many engines using the same V-twin design produce similar sounds—Harley-Davidson abandoned the effort and withdrew its application in 2000.

Well remember Harley`s legal actions, I was a regular reader of HOG magazine until Harley forced it to cease publishing as they claimed ownership of the word HOG

I wanted a couple of stickers/decals for my new Harley - now obsolete, they were about £45 quid each incl delivery for NOS from the US!!! Scanned a copy, bit of fiddling using 'Paint' and I've got 10 made up using one of the online Sticker makers for under a tenner including delivery. smile
